"i just hope it can change for someone else. that they dont have to go through sniffles you might be wondering what the nursing homes and assisted living facilities have to say about this. we tried to talk to industry leaders about the challenges they face, but nobody got back to us. one of the things we've heard through our reporting is that nursing homes and assisted living communities have to keep everyone safe by law, so if one resident is violent they sometimes have no other choice then make a decision on whether to take them. there's certainly liability issues at play and facilities say they can get in trouble for keeping someone who might have challenging behaviors, especially if they are violent. other places tell us calling police is a last resort -- other places say they never call police. do they really have to be handcuffed though? that's a liability issue too. police are in a tough spot. they tell me anytime someone's in a have to be cuffed -- no matter how old they are.

they may have a name like brenda or whatever it may be. it's something that is a really great effort. and you know, there are ways to bring those kinds of conversations to schools. and then one last thing i'll add is i met this amazing 16-year-old who has started a program at her high school in montgomery county. it's called seek kid to kid. and what she's done is she has, because of the confusion because people didn't understand the different, they started an organization at their school where the kids talk to their teachers about what does it mean to be seek, how is that different from being indue and muslim. and they created a whole program around it. and they talk to students and student groups. as your children get older, there are opportunities for them to own their own narrative, right? we raise them while they're young to be proud of who they are. and then you see that. seeing this 16-year-old girl start this organization to increase cultural competency, i'm sure you've met her, it was quite inspiring. and i hope -- maybe there are
