let's get over to kathy orr for that all important forecast. kathy. >> yeah, to the northeast it's pretty chilly. to the south and east a little bit on the mild side but tonight we're looking at temperatures that will be falling very quickly. we have a clear sky and now a lighter wind. take a look at the temperature at the airport. 38 degrees. the high today 48. but got news is, we're not talking about gusty winds and we're not talking about wind chills. winds out of the northwest at just 6 miles an hour. so that is quite an improvement of the right now only 28 in the poconos. if you're heading there for the holiday weekend 32 in pottstown. 37 in trenton and 27 degrees in millville. overnight 30 in the city. 24 in the suburbs. mainly clear. this will be the coldest night that we have seen this entire season. the coldest has been in philadelphia so far 35 we're going to eclipse that 5 degrees getting down to 30. as you look at the airport delays right now, still in newark 49 minute delay. philadelphia looking good. jfk looking good that is still

thank you so much kathy orr. water quality in the spotlight yet again and parents in one cam county town have quite a few questions for school official after specks found lead in the water of five schools. the superintendent of cherry hill schools posted a letter on the district's website saying heart johnson man, sharp and wood dreft element will he schools all tested positive for above normal lead levels. the letter says the inspection found lead in food preparation and drinking areas. the district is working to fix the problem but many parents are wondering how long has this been going on? >> it is concerning because my daughter -- my oldest caught has been here for a few years and went to middle scoop and my youngest is still here and i think they should have been on top of this a long time. we pay lot in real estate taxes for the school board and i think that they should have been testing this a little bit more frequently. >> the testing is part statewide program. the sun says the district man's to check mid

so let's get straight over to meteorologist kathy orr. hey, kathy. >> good evening, lucy and iain. good evening, everyone. we're looking at some pockets of drizzle and mist going across the delaware valley. but once this rain comes to a complete end and that dampness goes away we will be dealing with areas of dense fog. visibility now reduced to the west. especially in lancaster county where it's only a quarter of a mile and as we dry out a little bit, we will see that fog rolling in. right now there's a dense fog advisory through lancaster county and westward as you head through state college the national weather service in state college issued this and it goes all the way down through baltimore and washington and there is a chance that this could be extended into our region late tonight or early tomorrow morning. so be prepared give yourself a little extra time before you head out the door tomorrow just in case. temperatures right now, still very warm. 60s to the south and east. 50s to the north and west. so we have a good chance of seeing that fog develop. coming up we'll talk a

kathy orr joins us now. kathy, you tracking some rain and wind. >> we're talking about a lot. thank goodness eagles game do s tonight we're talking about rain, we're talking about thunderstorms, we're talking about wind but not tonight. that will hold off until tomorrow. market street looking busy this evening the temperature 50 the high for the day 53 degrees with winds out of the south southeast at about 6 miles an hour. so that's a warm wind for us. temperatures right now in the 40s and the 50s. they will continue to fall but then slowly just level off during the overnight with those southerly winds on the increase. ultimate doppler you can see the clouds rolling in. they will thicken during the early morning hours, and the rain this big storm, will be moving toward us. a surge of strong storms and heavy rain moving toward the northeast. we stay on the warm side of the storm. as we continue to look at this hour by hour. the rain moves in tuesday morning. the heaviest to the north and west. during the morning rush. and then a few more rounds of rain on tuesday but guess what

let's get over to meteorologist kathy orr so kathy are we going to see more stormy weather. >> um-hmm. yes, we are. a break in the rain tonight. you can see a few lingering showers out there. light mist and drizzle. the bigger problem tonight will be areas of fog. ultimate doppler we have some spotty showers in sprinkles if you're going out tonight. you could pack the umbrella but it's not going to be heavy rain. it will be ending right now temperatures ranging from 51 in the poconos to 65 degrees in dover. the temperature bumped up 1 degree in philadelphia. since last hour. we are sitting at 60 degrees. strong southerly winds will be blowing and we'll be seeing visibility reduced even further during the overnight once the rain comes to an end right now visibility 2 miles in the poconos. and the lehigh valley. only a quarter mile in lancast lancaster. and that could cause some problems for the early morning rush tomorrow. this evening, though, drizzle and mist will linger the next couple of hours. some gusts especially to the south it will be a warm wind and fog will be developing. it

. >> meteorologist kathy orr is here now with a first look at a chilly forecast. kathy. >> you know what, guys, there's no wind out there, though, so it's really making it feel even more comfortable than the temperature. take look outside on mark street. a lot of people out and about. hey, it's thursday night. big night to be out on the town in old city. today's high temperatures in the upper 50s. this is seasonal for this time of year. so ac, wilmington, philadelphia 58. allentown at 58. trenton and reading at 57 degrees. so a seasonal november day. right now in the poconos, we've fallen only 56. 50 in allentown. 54 in philadelphia. and 43 degrees in millville. so clear skies and light winds will help those temperatures fall but we're going to get more of a southwesterly wind and that means temperatures will be warming big time tomorrow. so 7:00 o'clock we're looking at 52. clear skies at 9:00 but comfortable at 50 dipping into the 40s by 11:00 p.m. and turning colder overnight. coming up in the seven day a loft exciting things to talk about. first, mild again bu

orr is here with your forecast. >> there are many ups, lucy and many downs to this forecast. first it's going to be on the cool side. you can see clearing skies across the region that means temperatures are going to fall fairly quickly. they already have in the poconos we're in the 30s. 40s trenton and philadelphia. pottstown and millville sitting at 37 degrees. so it is going to be a cold night through the delaware valley through new york, through new england we're talking about temperatures in the 30s and 40s. we have an area of low pressure that's moving away but on the back side of this, it is pulling down that cooler canadian air, and also a northerly wind that will keep it cool through the morning. fair weather high pressure builds in over the next couple of days and temperatures will gradually be warming as this high continues to drift toward the south and toward the east. so we're talking about temperatures warming big time by the time the weekends. overnight tonight look for a low of 42 in the city. 36 in the suburbs with mainly clear skies. temperatures will be warm

fox 29 meteorologist kathy orr though tracking what's ahead for thanksgiving. kathy. >> it's unbelievable. if you have any friends or family in upstate new york or new england, we're talking about inches and in some places a foot of snow with these lake effect snow bands coming off the great lakes. so you have this intense wind. these lakes are not frozen and that is a snow machine. but for us, we're talking about wind and cold that will continue. we have the winds we just don't have the moisture thankfully winds out of the east at 39 miles an hour. that is the current gust in philadelphia. that is tropical force gust and this isn't the highest we've had gusts in the 40s today. gusting to 39 in lancaster. gusting to 30 in reading good news these winds will fully subside overnight tonight but the chill is there if you're stepping out tonight. feels like 19 in the poconos. 27 in allentown. 27 in wilmington. feels like 29 degrees in philadelphia. these numbers will stick right through the evening. wind advisory will continue until 7:00 o'clock tonight. for winds g

meteorologist kathy orr here with your first forecast at 11:00. >> we have clouds out there right now few spotty sprinkles here and there across the evening but most of the precipitation that we've seen past through the delaware valley is not made it to the ground. there's a larger system a front that's moving through parts of ohio righ writ all the snow, alt white stays to the north and we see just a few spotty showers tomorrow. but look closer you can see through southern parts of new york and north jersey a few snowflakes but elsewhere just talking clouds and cool per temperatures. 31 in the poconos. 41 in trenton. 40 degrees in wildwood. airport delays, no. none of them. not long along the east coast where we saw the snow through the great lakes we few delays still in annapolis 45 minute delay that is due to volume. elsewhere across the country, no travel issues. pretty quiet out there for the most part. as we go hour by hour for thanksgiving, we have the clouds over us tonight. and for tomorrow. the best chance of seeing any scattered shower activity will be late in the morning i

kathy orr here with your first forecast at 11:00. >> i know it is going to be a shock to the system but guess what, iain? we have one more real nice day before that shock moves its way in. old city philadelphia looking beautiful tonight with a clear sky. a light wind an temperature of 50 degrees which is really mild for this time of evening at this late date in the fall season. the high today 58. winds out of the west southwest at 11 miles an hour. that's a warm wind for us and it's helping to keep the temperatures up. mainly in the 40s and the 50s. but no 30s to speak of. mount pocono still holding on to 45 degrees. 46 degrees in allentown. and look at atlantic city at the airport it is 50 degrees. 53 degrees in wildwood. so we will be seeing fare weather high pressure building on into the region. and then moving off the coast. ahead of this front milder air will be squeezing up the coast and that means a pleasant day for your veterans day on friday. but behind that front, turning blustery, by saturday morning. i can't familiar size enough how cold it's going to feel saturday morning.

meteorologist kathy orr here with that first forecast at 11. >> the winds have subsided. hopefully the fire will get under control. light winds tonight and colder temperatures. coldest night of the season so far in philadelphia. get down to around 30. take a live look at market street in old city philadelphia. with a temperature is 38. 10 degrees cooler than the high for the today. winds out northwest at 8 miles an hour. cross the region, 27 in the poconos. 26 in millville. 33 in pottstown and only 31 degrees in lancaster. wind speeds down to nil in millville that's why those temperatures are so cold there right now. we have a northwest wind in philadelphia at just eight. wilmington we have a southwest wind at 3 miles an hour. that's the way we like it that means tomorrow will be a much better day. more comfortable. fair weather high pressure brings us sunshine and dry conditions at least for i'd say the next 24 hours and the clouds roll in tomorrow afternoon. and we're watching this. an area of low pressure with the snow, the cold air to the north, the rain to the south.
