. >>> mayor michael hancock addressed a new program geared toward getting homeless people in we're here at civic center park just in case you see crews around town looking like this, doing work like this, this is part of the brand new program called denver day works. the main goal, to put homeless people around our city back to work. so today the inaugural day of the program crews are spending around denver parks basically in cooperation with a contractor here to plant trees. a lot of trees actually that wouldn't have been planted if these workers are paid $12.49 an hour above minimum wage. that's for about a six-hour work day. they're paid in cash or gift cards depending on their circumstance and situation. a lot of times it can be difficult as someone living on the streets to get even just a temporary job. this even with a background as the mayor said just a short time ago, you can still do that as part of this program. we spoke to one worker, a homeless woman who got a second chance as part of this program. thing a listen to what she had >> i don't know what i'd do. i'd go to jail if
