katherine scott is outside police headquarters with the latest. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, 6 fatal heroin overdoses and philadelphia police are investigating today, five of them happened in kensington within blocks of each other. the latest case confirmed by police happened around 8:00 p.m. on the 600 block of east indiana avenue. police in his 30s had a fatal her woin -- heroin overdose. a 40-year-old man dialed on east broad. two people died on kensington avenue. the last fatal case include a woman in her 30s who died on the 3300 block of amber street and man in his 40s on d street. police have been investigating a bad batch of heroin circulating throughout philadelphia for the past months or so. whether last night's overdoses had to do with the bad batch, east detectives are investigate and they want to hear from you if you have any information. >> a fire at a repurposed ware house. a dance party was going on at the time. 8 victims were identified. official confirmed teens are among the dead. families

this is the story of katherine fuller. the crime happened in october of 1984 and tonight it's back in the headlines. the supreme court has agreed to hear the appeal of the men convicted who still claim they're innocent. this happened at h and eighth streets northeast, an area back then that was virtually desolate, but now it's one of the city's biggest nightlife district. garrett haake is there with our story. >> reporter: that murder 32 years ago made this intersection synonymous with gang violence in the district as police rounded up members of what they call the eighth and h street crew and charged them in that murder. they convicted eight, but now the surviving men have appealed all the way to the supreme court. each defendant is charged with felony murder, armed robbery and kidnapping. the sexual assault and murder of a 48-year-old mother of six captivated washington for weeks on end in 1984 as the district followed every twist and turn in the trial on television. >> katherine fuller's badly beaten body was discovered
