i do not know the reason for that. >> in oakland, wilson walker kpix 5 chilling details about the thoughts going through the minds of fire victims. according to the alameda county sheriff's office one of the victims tested their mother did read i love you mom i'm going to die. some of the victims died with their arms around each other in an attempt to protect one another. authorities have identified 33 of the 36 people killed in the fire. family and friends remembering the lives lost, we are able to tell some of their stories, some were passionate about music and art. one attended san francisco state university and another cal. we go outside the growing memorial in oakland for the victims. >> reporter: as the list of those known to have died in the fire grows so does the memorial that was built for them as well as the information we are learning about who they were and what they meant to the community. michaela gregory a child development major who grew up on the peninsula. her boyfriend was also at the party and remains missing. this victim lived in oakland. alex was a 35-year-old father

as wilson walker reports his memories of that day are still vivid. >> here is the motion picture record released by the united states navy. >> the first bombs start, we knew what was going on immediately. >> reporter: 95-year-old lou doesn't need a newsreel to know what happened at pearl harbor. he was right in the middle of it. >> i was the quartermaster third class on the 7th of december and uss arizona. we only lasted, you know, nine minutes. >> here's the actual bombing of the mighty uss arizona. >> and we took the bomb down on the starboard side forward by number 2 turret and went through five decks into the lower handling room of the forward magazines and it blew up the forward magazines. that's where you see the blast. >> reporter: 1,177 men died that morning on the arizona. and of the 335 survivors, only five are left. >> reporter: today he was given a grand sendoff to the 75th anniversary ceremony in hawaii but isn't traveling alone. he is taking the ashes of another arizona survivor who died earlier this year at the age of 92. >> five of us left and there's three of us are goi

kpix 5's wilson walker talked to a man who was there when fire crews showed up. >> a friend of mine was a promoter for the show and the friend's band of mine was playing so a lot of my friends were there. so i went to check it out. >> reporter: he became part of the show that is him adding some cowbell for his friend's band but at some point during the night in 2014 there were unexpected visitors. >> i'm not sure when but sometime in the middle of the show i think pretty early on, the firefighters showed up, um, inside the building, um, walking around at least downstairs i believe they are upstairs but i forget. >> reporter: he says those firefighters were friendly, didn't appear alarmed by anything and seemed to just be checking things out, something he was grateful for, given the nature of the space. >> i really appreciated the first being there. >> reporter: yesterday they said there are no records for firefighters stepping inside the warehouse. >> we don't have any record stating that our firefighters had made entry or were aware of what was going on. >> i'm not sure of what led up

. >> reporter: in oakland, wilson walker, kpix 5. >> and we of course reached out to the oakland fire department for comment but have not heard back. >>> right now crowds are lining up at the fox theatre in oakland. it's a night every music and dancing to help those left by the deadly warehouse fire. primus with openers like the tune yards, rogue wave and hip- hop artists. kpix 5's emily turner is live outside the show. >> reporter: they are running late but you can see everybody lined up looking forward to going inside. it starts shortly and benefits the victims of the ghost ship fire and ticket sales money is going to the gray area foundation a san francisco arts organization and will send the money to families of the victims, victims and those displaced by the fire. we are waiting for the red cross to figure out who that goes to. they have raised $672,000. tonight they will get about $30,000 more. >> it's going to be somber and that's important. we want it to be celebratory and we have encouraged the artists to keep it light. because we are here, we are here to celebrate the lives
