bcn17:fremont: 96-year-old woman who died in vehicle collision identified bcn17 -victim identified fremont - an elderly woman who died in a vehicle collision thursday morning in fremont has been identified as 96-year-old barbara lyon, according to the alameda county coroner's bureau. the collision occurred just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of fremont boulevard and parish avenue, police said. lyon, a fremont resident, was driving a toyota sedan heading west on parish avenue when a pickup truck heading north on fremont boulevard collided into her toyota's driver's side, according to police. lyon was briefly trapped inside her car. medical crews attempted to treat her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. >> catherine:the driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. drugs and alcohol do not appear to e factors in the crash, police said. anyone with information about the crash has been asked to contact fremont traffic investigators at 790-6760 or to email officer jesse hartman at jhartmanfremont.gov. in the east bay. a 96-year-old woman is dead af

this is niles canyon road, fremont police are blocking it off. it is a long stretch of road that connects 680 to mission boulevard here in fremont so this is a very important road and i just got an update from the fremont police department, they said caltrans had come by and told them that this road will be closed until at least 8:00 this morning. one resident told me one of the mudslides is a quarter of a mile long and people are having to go towards castro valley to get out. niles canyon road is a muddy mess. we took this video about 20 minutes ago. didn't make it very far from mission boulevard before we ran into debris, brush, and thick mud. a car was parked on the side of the road with a bunch of debris underneath the vehicle. two people were actually trapped in that car and the fremont police department had to go in and take them out. water was above their wheels. alameda creek runs right next to it but that water was actually coming from the mountainside. several slides took place in this area, one on nearby kilcare road. in fact, the alam
