right off the bat let's get to meteorologist kathy orr. kathy? >> what a day across the region especially down the shore. where of course waves are battering our coast lines significant flooding and also beach erosion expected much here's the storm a full blown nor'easter the winds rapid of wrapping around it and pulling that moisture inland with bands of very heavy rain. i do anticipate another inch of rain where we see the yellows and oranges all of this lifting toward the north and west and some wintry mix us a head toward the poconos we do anticipate snow later tonight with winter weather advisory there. you can see the heavier rain falling from trenton into parts of bucks county, upper montgomery into lower montgomery, philadelphia and all through south jersey, burlington county heavy rain right now. towns like pemberton, mt. laur mt. laurel, moores ton, medford into cinnaminson on the other side and pa we're looking at areas like feasterville, even levittown seeing heavy rain right now and it will continue to push on through. high wind warn

kathy orr is tracking when this may finally move out of here. we'll begin with o'connell getting sound blasted in avalon, new jersey. chris g job, you got the goggles on. >> you really have to, lucy. a lot of people asking me why the goggles tonight. if you are in unprotected area like we are right now in townsend's inlet, we're just getting blasted with sand, bla blasted with white wash from the water. i clocked 54-mile an hour gusts the last hour coming off townsend's inlet right here. we were all over the jersey shore towns tonight. we were in atlantic city, we were in ocean city, here in avalon, stone harbor, much the same all over. we're getting reports wildwood, almost every street corner was flooded earlier tonight. especially in the low-lying areas. well luckily most of the rain has moved offshore lucy as you were saying but now we're contending with these winds. we understand they're going to be pounding us all night. again, especially in these unprotected areas. one of the things that happens when this kind of wind comes these nor'east

let's start, though, with meteorologist kathy orr. >> it's a light snow. it's falling at a pretty good pace and we're looking at it moving right along the i november corridor and more snow right along the eastern shore of maryland crossing into delaware. so if you live in central and southern delaware and you haven't seen much yet you'll see some light snow a coating to maybe an inch of snow but another storm could be impacting your area over the weekend. we'll get to that. but first right now we're seeing some of the heavier more moderate snow to the north and west of the city into the suburbs. and even in our northwestern and northern zones of philadelphia counties. so temperatures are falling, and that snow will continue to stick. 27 degrees in pottstown. 30 in philadelphia and 30 degrees in millville. most locations with those roads treat the there's no issue. but overnight tonight you can see some snow sticking on those untreated surfaces. one to 3-inches best bet along the i-95 corridor with coating to an inch further north and farther south through

fox 29 meteorologist kathy orr is here now. kathy, sounds like we can stash away the winter coat for a wee little bit. >> for a wee bit, yes. take a look at all these showers if you stepped outside you know some of that heavy rain is moving over the philadelphia area as we speak. some of those yellows now moving into south jersey, but philadelphia county into parts of montgomery county, even into the lehigh valley this will be moving out within the next two hours. look at the temperatures. 46 in philadelphia. 50 in dover. and millville it's 47. so a huge surge in temperature through the whole region overnight that's a warm front moving on through. so we'll say goodbye to the rain during the early morning hours. temperatures will be rising and by 1:00 a.m., they should be out of here. skies will be clearing by tomorrow morning. and then the change begins. we are talking about the warmest air yet. coming up in the seven day we'll talk about those numbers to beat because we're challenging records tomorrow. then temperatures plunge

let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr. kathy, you've been timing this whole thing out. >> absolutely. first we have to talk about the cold because that's going to set up this whole scenario. right now in philadelphia 38. 24 in the poconos. allentown 32 and trenton it is 36 degrees. overnight temperatures falling into the 20s. the poconos 14. philadelphia 27 and allentown 22. so the cold is coming and tomorrow morning wind chills will be mainly in the teens. now we'll watch this area of low pressure developing right now through iowa and this is all going to be moving toward the east. it's an area of low pressure with many advisories already posted into the tennessee valley and the ohio valley so this moves eastward. it redevelops off the coast and we see these two systems teaming up and moving up the eastern seaboard as a coastal storm. that means late thursday and into friday morning accumulating snow for the entire region. so coming up we'll talk about how it's going get with that wind chill. how much snow to expect and w

let's start with our kathy orr life outside our old city studios. oh, look a winter wonderland. >> it's pri tee. it is. i managed to scrape together a tiny snowball. >> itty bitty snowball. >> it's a little lame but we'll do better tomorrow morning. we're talking about some light plum pee flakes moving down almost like confetti. you can see behind me it's not causing any problems just accumulating on some area cars. everyone walking by and kind of enjoying the first widespread snow of the season across the region. nothing sticking to the ground but sticking to the cars and to the mailboxes and that type of thing. let's take look at old city philadelphia. where traffic is moving along. as we look at ultimate doppler, though, you'll be able to see the swath of snow that's heaviest see that darker lavender mainly along the i-95 corridor, that's where it's heaviest down toward wilmington where chris is, lightening up a little bit and to the south but more snow showers are going to be moving your way. the winter weather advisory continues through tomorro

let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr. >> huge change in our weather the past couple of days it's been wet. remaining us it is january after all. you can see the wet roads and slow going on market street. still light rain moving through with an area of low pressure so drizzle and fog will be an issue during the late night and overnight hours. most of the rain has most moved newspaper new york and into new england but a few more showers are possible. temperatures pretty mild out there. philadelphia 46. 50 in millville and atlantic city. 34 in the poconos. along the northeast extension through allentown and northward temperatures right around 40 degrees. when when we look at the visibility that moisture lingering in the atmosphere it is reduced in the lehigh valley and reading berks county down to mile and a half here. 2.5 miles in wilmington. now increased to 4 miles but look at millville just one and three quarters mile visibility and atlantic city visibility down to quarter mile. so these numbers will continue to go down late tonight and i do think visibility will be an issu
