. >> i'm ken bastida. we have team coverage tonight. the big storm first, emily turner. >> yeah, right now, you said it. there is a flash flood warning in effect in southeast sonoma county. it goes into effect until or is into effect until 12:15 tomorrow morning. we are talking santa rosa, petaluma, sonoma, windsor, and graton. make it to higher ground and stay safe. we want everyone to make it through the storm because we have two more to get through after that. taking a look at high-def doppler, you can see scattered showers throughout the bay area. the bulk of the heavy storms have made their way out. there are a few remaining pockets of rainfall. zooms into them. all of them headed toward vallejo. moving in toward american canyon. that will move our rainfall totals, close to totals we think. six-and-a-half inches in the north bay. all the way down no 38,100ths of an inch in san jose. this is just the beginning. there is more water, more rain on the heels of this because we have two more storms headed our way. there will be a few sho

ken bastida reports. >> reporter: the body cam video has touched off a fierce dispute. police saying officers had no choice. public defender jeff adachi, on the other hand, saying officers did not follow the department's new deescalation tactics. [ yelling ] [ cursing ] >> reporter: that's how it started. sean moore started yelling obscenities as the officers approached his front door. police have been responding to a noise complaint early in the morning on january 5. at one point, officers used pepper spray on moore. and then quickly retreated down the stairs. a few minutes later moore walked out the front door toward the officers after telling him to get down, video shows the officers running up the stairs beating moore with a baton. he kicked back at the officers and that's when police say officer kenneth cha shot him. >> this is a situation where the police could have simply de- escalated the situation by moving away from the stairs just like he said. and at that point he could have called for backup. he could have taken other steps. >> plus released these photos of

. >> i'm ken bastida. the missing man is 32-year-old kenneth maldonado of san jose. his kayak capsized near the bridge. firefighter called off the search tonight, but the coast guard continues their search this hour. andria borba is in fremont. >> reporter: tonight, rescue crews on the san francisco bay have recovered a kayak and a life vest but not the 32-year- old man they belonged to. the call came around 430 this afternoon when one of the men on the water texted his girlfriend that his buddy was missing. thus, the search in the cold waters of san francisco bay began. drones and the u.s. coast guard helicopter looked but have not found a heat signature. rescue crews have been searching in the water in a grid pattern looking for any sign of the man. >> making a box, then a smaller box and smaller box. the shallow water craft now are working close to the east side shores and the west side shores to see if we can find anybody there. >> reporter: the conditions are abysmal for searching and survival. black murky water hovering between 45 and 50 degrees. >> we have the

i'm ken bastida. >> i'm elizabeth cook. that crash happened just after 7:30 tonight at jack london square in oakland. kpix5's christin ayers is there right now. >> reporter: yeah, guys, the general manager of the jazz club yoshi's told me it was 10 minute to show time. he says two -- minutes to show time. he says two members of the tower of power band, the bassist and drummer were rushing across the street and waited for one train to pass and tried to cross, but a second train going the opposite direction hit them. the two were thrown several feet. the manager called 911 and stayed by both men's sides. he said they were both unconscious at the time and appeared to have broken bones. the men were taken to highland hospital and were responsive at that time. >> we don't know if they didn't hear the train or we don't know how the tragedy happened, but we're very, very sad about this. the bad is, you know, emotionally destroyed. so are all of us working with them for days and many years. so it's really sad. >> they just said we'
