kron 4's j.r. stone is following the story. and joins us live outside the muni bus depot in san francisco's wharf. j.r. any precautions taken by muni? last friday we told you about another meningtis case --- the marin county health departnment says, sevin philips had bacterial meningtis. tests are underway to confirm the disease was the cause of his death. the 48-year-old was said to be in good health. he worked out at 'soul cycle' in larkspur. the health department has reached out to nearly 300- people who may have had contact with philips. at least a dozen people are now on antibiotics. as a precautiouary measure. there is not a meningitis vaccine.so it's up to people to learn how to protect themselves agains the virus. grant lodes is here with what we need to know. we may all have come on different ships but we're on the same boat now. there are no vaccines to protect against non-polio enteroviruses, which are the most common cause of viral meningitis. you can take the following steps to help lower your chances of getting in

now as kron-4's terisa estacio tells us. salman is facing a possible life sentence. >> reporter:in an oakland federal courthouse tuesday - noor salman made her first appearance since being arrested after a florida grand jury indicted her - in connection with her husbands mass shooting at a florida nightclub last june where 49 people died and 53 were injured. in stark contract to old pictures of her smiling with her husband omar mateen - in court, salman looked distraught - her face down and her voice a whisper when asked by the judge if she understood the charges against her. sot/tc: 31 al salman/noor salman's uncle. did you make eye contact. yes. i hope so, i want her to know we are here for her. salman's uncle came to her defense - saying she knew nothing of mateen's plan. mateen died in the 3 hour standoff. he had pledged allegiance to isil - the islamic extremist group during the attack. he also exchanged text messages with salman. but her uncle says she had no idea what he was doing. sot/tc: her aunt asked her to reach

live in san francisco ella sogomonian kron 4 news. tonight a former deputy with the contra costa county sheriff's office is behind bars. being held on attempted murder charges. all this after a house party in sacramento. 23 year old kyle rowland was a deputy with the contra costa county sheriff's office three days ago. right now he's behind bars on an attempted murder charge. he's also out of a job. we actually told people he had to go. he was creeping out people girls especially. in his mug shot you can see the fresh bruises on his face. rowland was here at a house party in sacramento early friday morning. sacramento police say at one point he left the party and came back with a gun. there was a confrontation between two people and at least one shot was fired. got the gun out of his hand police say they recovered two guns but no one was shot. those at the contra costa sheriff's office would not refer to rowland by name but say that the man in question was hired in october of last year. he had been with the department for less than 3
