today, we feature bay area groups servicing theation american and pacific islander comubts. when you talk aboutation pacific fund, you're talking about an organization that helps a lot of groups and about 100,000 individuals a year. we'll start with one program near and dear to their heart and ours, growing up asian in america. >> then we highlight a neighborhood center that has been an anchor institution in chinatown community for more than 140 years. the house which started as a rescue mission for chinese women trapped in domestic slavery and prostitution, and continued to evolve to meet changing needs. >> after that, we profile the chinatown community development center which manages and provides housing for thousands of residents. also provides guidance for tenants and leadership training for youth. >> and we'll finish with a spotlight on the community youth center of san francisco, which has a mission to empower and strengthen high-need youth and their families through education, employment training, advocacy, and other services. all that on our show today. as i mention

islands. trials were held at guam and kwajalein in the marshall islands. of 19was also a trial japanese accused of having used american prisoners for medical experiments, and then killing those who did not die in the process. involved 123 defendants, led to 113 convictions, 10 acquittals, and can carry out death sentences. -- 10 carried out death sentences. he's also attracted little attention. united states carried out a large number of cases, a total of 319 in yokohama under the offices of the american eight army which had its headquarters there. 996 japaneseof primarily involved the legend mistreatment at killing of allied prisoners of war, and in one case the performance of experiments on them. they were 854 convictions, 142 acquittals, and 51 implemented death sentences. a majority of the original death sentences having been produced by the reviewing authorities. the british tried many of their 306 cases in singapore. accused in these cases were tried for their actions against allied pris

[applause] it's a community center and the offense such as bring such a diversity of authors and gives a vibrancy to the community that i've been called home for 23 years now so i'm proud to be here for the third time i think for opportunities for the readers around the country so thank you for being here. much appreciated. i've had the great fortune to turn a lifelong interest in the navy and world war ii into an ongoing project. it was a battle narrative that didn't extend too far beyond the mission of telling the story of this victory over japan and in october of 84 it benefited a great deal was only a tiny handful that are left right now so over the course of projects i've seen it diminish from book to book. my second was about a single shift. the survivors taken prisoner and made slaves on the notorious project on the highway all through
