in the complaint, specifically names rex tillerson. what the charges are, they involve charges from 2000-2004 that exxonmobil essentially in the words of the complaint privatize the indonesian military to act as its own security force for its natural gas operations there. ache was in the midst of an independence movement. exxonmobil we used a renowned for its human rights of abuse record military to be its private security force. in one of the cases, for example, john doe 2 -- they're all john doe because they are frayed for their lives -- the person alleged he was kidnapped privateonmobil's security, health for three-month and severely tortured, shown a pile of human heads and warned this is what was going to happen to him. he was eventually released and then his home was burned down. this is a case that involves charges of murder, sexual assault, the most horrific things you can imagine. the case alleges that the decisions were being made to use this military force at the highest levels of exxonmobil in the executive levels, not just

rex tillerson conanswer that question. similar, through the course of the hearing, asking questions about china, one of the biggest human rights abusers, similarly mr. tillerson said a human rights abuser. i'm not sure if it's one of world's biggest human rights abusers. questions about philippines and saudi. rubio was not satisfied with those answers. so, wolf, if he votes no on this committee, it could be enough to stall the nomination because there's only one seat difference between republicans and democrats right now on the senate foreign relations committee. it could be enough to stall the nomination. there are still ways republicans could presumably avoid a deadlocked committee in which they would not be able to get the votes out of the committee. there are procedures they could do to advance the nomination to the floor and try to prove it on a full senate floor, but that is frowned upon. it is -- it doesn't usually happen in the senate. we don't know if it will actually get to that point. suffice to say if rubio vot

rex tillerson in the committee. so this is a danger zone for a key nominee for donald trump's cabinet. >> interesting. so if rubio votes no on tillerson, what happens, manu? >> well, that's a great question. there are several possibilities. one, it could mean the end of rex tillerson's nomination, because the committee is split because one republican has a majority, they have a one-seat majority. if the democrats all vote no and rubio votes no with them, presumably, that could stall, but the republican leadership can take extraordinary steps to bypass the committee and move it straight to the floor to try to confirm it through the floor. that is rarely done, it will provoke an outcry and presumably anger other republicans, people like john mccain or lindsey graham who are also skeptical about rex tillerson on the russia issue. so it would avoid problems on the floor, which is one reason why that committee vote is so important. >> and i have to ask you about this before you go. you also spoke with cory booker today a

tillerson -- trish: a heated exchange between marco rubio and rex tillerson. several heated exchanges or at least two between marco rubio and rex tillerson today. the latest one was around the world where he asked him about a variety of places, variety of countries and specifically that last exchange was about saudi arabia and whether or not rex tillerson would declare that saudi arabia was, in fact, a human rights violator. sort of went around that a little bit. marco rubio kept going back to the point finally where tillerson had to say, look, we're on the same page, we don't really differ in terms of our goals, senator. we want to talk more about this in terms of how the hearings are going. why it is marco rubio seems to be a little contentious today? joining me is the navy s.e.a.l. who killed osama bin laden, robert o'neill. former deputy assistant to president george w. bush, brad blakeman. am i reading too much into it or marco getting feisty? >> seems as if he's got a bit of a bone to pick with rex tillerson, he was going around the world with everything

well marco rubio actually vote for rex tillerson as secretary of state. and here's why that matters. check out how this committee looks. this is the foreign relations committee. they've going to vote on whether to recommend this nomination. look at the balance. there's 11 republicans, there's ten democrats, if, and this is a big if, if all ten democrats vote now and if marco rubio also votes no, there are more no voits than yes, sir notes. you have a negative recommendation come out of committee, you can still take it to the senate floor, but if marco rubio twor vote no, if you were to get a negative recommendation out of this committee on tillerson. look at what the rest of the senate looks like. look at the potential domino effect, the republicans have the majority, they do not have a lot of votes to spare. there are other senators, like blooub are hawkish on russia, hawkish on putinen. worried about the posture. lindsey graham made a noncommittal statement. there are others. if rubio goes, does mccain go, does graham do? do the other republican hawk go
