for more now we go to meteorologist rosemary orozco. we've been waiting for rain, now we have hail, and people don't want it. >> a different type of day. pockets of rain, hail, thunder and lightning reported in some areas. i had tweets from novato seeing lightning, san jose. we still have a couple of advisories. a few here, a little bit of sunshine mixed with cloud cover and water on the lens. that's the type of day we've had with mostly cloudy skies, scattered showers rotating into the bay area. high surf advisory will continue into the overnight hours. it will expire at 3:00 a.m. there's one area we continue to watch in sonoma county near mark west creek. it's the lower end. there's an advisory in place, flooding occurring near the creek until 7:30 tomorrow morning. the national weather service has extended that. here is a look at what you can expect if you have to drive to the sierra. there is a winter weather advisory. it will expire at 4:00 a.m. all the way down to 3,000 feet. the snow continues on and off. here is a look at storm

. >> rosemary orozco is tracking the storm but we begin with a major delay on interstate 880 after a struck knocked down a power pole on the freeways. henry lee has more. reporter: we are on 880. the traffic is moving well as we begin the rush hour but that was not the case several hours ago. >> this woman took video of a white big rig that got lost at the dead end at 37th street. the big rid hit a power pole and the wires fell across both areas of 880 between high and fruit roll around 1220. >> he keeps trying to back out. people are telling him to make a u turn but he would not listen and tried to back out. when he backed out, he hit the pole. >> the truck driver left the scene. she showed the video to the chp and the highway patrol and oakland police had made contact with the driver. both southbound and northbound driver came to a standstill where traffic is bad to begin with. luckily this happened before the start of the rush hour and no motorists were hurt. pg&e crews removed the wires including from underneath this car on the southbound side. the c hp opened the free way at 1:4

rosemary orozco was in here earlier and she ran out and wanted to look at the traffic. she heard it was bad and we got standing water. rosemary, where are you? what are you seeing? reporter: i'm here near the station on the oakland embarcadero area. you can see 880 behind me and we have head lights for as far out as the eye can see in the other direction. not necessarily a parking lot but top and go in that direction as well. there is a lot of wet roadway and ponding and i'm sure folks are having trouble with hydroplanning along i-80 through emeryville just as bad. you can see a lot of stop and go along highway 24, seeing a lot of traffic at this hour. this will go on for the next couple of hours. the rain is not going to let up. in fact it could intensify in the next couple of hours and the winds could go as well. in a matter of less than ten minutes there was 7 accidents and 7 traffic hazards and that doesn't include the road closures from areas like from mudslides and the flooding that is going on. i guess the key here as we know, you may just need a reminder just to
