this is a landslide that happened in st. helena yesterday afternoon. work crews had to bring in heavy machinery to clear the roadway. the road was open and cleared by yesterday evening. however the road remains closed this morning because of a concern that the hillside above it could continue to come down during the rainstorms today and later this week. along with landslides, power outages are also expected to be a big problem. crews are prepared for the storms today. emergency repair crews are working in many places around the bay area. let's show you some of the numbers we have from pg&e this morning. the east bay has the biggest problem with more than a thousand customers without power. north bay, 762 customers without power. peninsula, 216. san francisco with 105 customers. south bay in the best shape with 34 customers without power. a pg&e spoke person will have updated numbers in the next hour. they could change coming up an hour from now. let's switch over to yosemite valley. the national park will reopen after a closure now that concerns about

we've got some good news for the napa river at st. helena. we're currently at 14.5, which means we're below and we're dropping. so, flooding not a threat there anymore. minor flooding possible, napa river is cresting right now about half a foot above flood stage, it will be below flood stage at 8:00 this morning. let's take a look at the radar. pretty quiet in the napa valley. you can see live doppler 7 up there on mt. st. helena and the shower is heading south of napa, going through american canyon, vallejo, and benicia, unfortunately, where they have that state of emergency. bay bridge toll plaza, alameda about to get wet, bay view district, brisbane all the way down to sfo. notice you don't see that deep white cloud mass that we had yesterday that had all that rain. in fact, we're going to see some sunshine today. tonight when the next storm comes through with the potential or some flash flooding. you can see a few drops out there. by noon, less drops. by 5:00, 6:00, even fewer drops. but by 11:00, then it starts coming in and it's going t

a large rockslide near st. helena block all the lanes. that roadway will remain closed until tomorrow morning. crews are so worried about that area. >> silverado trail to the north of st. helena here in napa will remain closed overnight tonight and that is because of rockslide that fell around to p.m.. this rockslide happened near the ski intersection that was sent to us by of you work. we move in and you to the rocks actually covered the entire roadway. that is why the initially cold down -- closed on silverado trail. but this isn't rocket this is compressed volcanic ash. because it's soft crews are able to get in there remove it to move it and clear the roadway and just after sunset . the problem is there are thousands of cubic yards of this stuff is still hanging on the hill above the roadway and there is fear that could fall down and hurt them one. >> what is still hanging up there is hanging precariously and it is too much of a threat to the life and safety of a public so we will keep the road closed for the rest of the night reevalu

let's take a look at the napa river which is expected to crest at st. helena around 8:00 p.m. or so, cresting at 19 feet, three feet above flood stage. that will produce moderate flooding. let's travel to the town of napa where the river is expected to crest during the overnight hours, just a foot above flood stage but will still produce minor flooding. the russian river at guerneville expected to crest tomorrow evening six feet above flood stage. moderate flooding at least there. the entire bay area is under a flash flood watch with the exception of communities immediately along the bay shoreline. rammed rises in creeks likely and rock slides and mudslides are possible. a wind advisory is in effect for all of the low-lying areas. winds will gust up to 45 miles an hour in those areas. higher up we have a high wind warning until midnight. gusts may be as high as 65 miles per hour and of course downed trees and power lines, power outages are possible with winds that strong. our current storm ranks 2 on the storm impact scale and through 8:00 p.m. we'll see brief, heavy downpours

when we get to 38 feet in duncan mills, let's head over to the napa river at st. helena. you can stee flood stage at 16. we're going to flood from 4:00 this afternoon until 1:00 tonight or tomorrow morning, if you will. we'll crest at 18.8 feet. that's moderate flooding. that means lower areas of town along the reach. widespread crop losses. many primary roads will flood making travel difficult, nearly impossible in those areas. napa river, it's going to flood the least. it's only going to be a flood stage about 3:00, 4:00 tomorrow morning when it gets to flood stage. it will be below it by 5:00. it will cause minor flooding, some low lying areas, agriculture land, secondary roads are possible. moderate dabank erosion and sediment deposition throughout the area. this is what i want to throw at you. at any second, this is how fast the flow is through the napa river. it's pushing more than 124,000 gallons of water per second. if the gallon equals 8.36 pounds, this thing is mushing more than a million pounds per second. want to know why water is dangerous? there you go. it's
