the central valley of california has benefited perhaps more than any other region in california, leaders andhave that part of our state that are not acknowledging the benefit to their people, so we need to help our friends and colleagues and neighbors across the state and across this country understand what the affordable care act really is, not what it has been represented to be, so leader pelosi, i cannot thank you enough. i will be your partner to do everything we can to make it work. >> one important thing to remember about the affordable care act, medicare, medicaid, and the aca are wedded. in the aca, we have prolong the life of medicare. we began closing the donut hole for the cost of prescription drugs. the whole bill is about prevention and wellness. it is about a healthy america, not just health care in america, but wellness in advance of that, and the medicaid piece of it is very central. while medicaid is thought of to be for poor children and their families and for a large number of beneficiaries are children, but a much smaller percentage of the money is spent on children.

part of that has to do with california. california is an easier place to live. they get more families. once they hit gender parity, a lot of these rules disappear, so they don't stay the most progressive state on women's rights. that becomes other states that need to incentivize women to come. you ever wonder why wyoming was the first state to gave women the right to vote? it was way back then too. it wasn't they were so progressive. it was that they realize one of the best ways to get women was to give them rights, then actually a whole lot of women's rights advocates started toocating women should move these places, move with their feet, and convince people that you will not stay where you are not treated fairly, so california is the first of the states to consider mail-order marriage. there is a lot they learned from eliza farnham's proposal. even though she doesn't ring over any actual mail-order brides, her idea is replicated for the next 50 years or so. there are these mail-order expeditions that bring over groups of eastern women to western mining towns,
