pamela osbourne joins us live from temple university, which has closed roads because of falling ice. it could get worse as temperatures rise. >> reporter: that is exactly right, vai. that is the concern. as you mentioned, this is leftover from tuesday's storm. at one point in time, everything was frozen in place. now that it warms up that ice is beginning to loosen up, and it's falling down on whatever is below. this is montgomery here. and you can see the sidewalk is closed. this is right next to the school of business. they do not want anybody getting hurt. center city yesterday, we saw portions of sidewalks close there as well. we also saw workers on top of some of those high rise buildings being proactive, breaking up the ice and knocking it down below. i actually saw this happening yesterday, as i was driving through the city. they had workers down below, making sure people were out of the way as these chunks of ice fell because that falling ice could cause injuries. check it out. we saw a windshield, few windshields like this completely smashed in because of falling ice. luckil

nbc 10's pamela osbourne is here to explain. pam? >> reporter: the strike goes further than that. women all across the world are planning to take a stand today on international women's day. it started january 21st when more than 5 million women worldwide participated in the women's march on washington and similar sister marches. that was just the beginning and now activists are calling on women to make a day -- one-day demonstration rather economic solidarity by taking the day off. they are encouraging women to spend money only at small businesses and businesses owned by other women and minorities. and for those women who can't take the day off, they are asking that you wear red to show solidarity for what the strike represents. >> women of all backgrounds have a huge value to our socioeconomic system. but that being said, women still across the board receive lower wages. we are still vulnerable to other inequalities, harassment, and job insecurity, which means we are more likely to be let go from our jobs. >> and striking women hope their absence today will show the power and sig

pamela osbourne has the story. >> reporter: it was supposed to be a two-week restoration process, but the storms impacting what crews have been able to do here in the cemetery as far as uprighting these stones that were knock ed down. as you can see, there's still plenty of work to be done. one month after vandals broke sbo the cemetery, too many headstones to count remain toppled over. but the generosity of people outraged by the desecration of the cemetery has brought new life to restoration efforts. >> now we're trying to reset as many stones as we can as fast as we can. >> reporter: the process is slow. . either done by hand or with the help of cranes. this one provided by the mason union. >> some pieces are broken and we have to modify the foundation, otherwise it's going to fall over again. >> in some place thas maximized the damage by tipping some one way and some the other way. >> the vandalism itself which was likely done within an hour or two will now take crews more than 100 hours to correct. >> you have to do it slow and be careful. >> reporter: the headstones you see here
