rosemary? >> pedram, for anyone asking, if they're tuning in thinking, why are they out live when there's not a lot of snow? talk to us about the historic nature of this. it is mid-march. and we are witnessing this. what is going on with the weather? >> you know, the incredible nature of what has happened. a lot of people wrote off winter thinking, we're not going to see much of it. one of the warmest januaries on record. warmest februarys on record. 9300 temperatures today. 1,300 low temperatures set in the heart of the cold season. over 200 tornadoes, versus 60, which is normal for this time of year. it's resembled a warm season pattern, rosemary. and the last couple of days of winter, it only takes one storm system to make or break a season. and this particular one could enter the books. could be a historic warm year again. but we can have this mark on it with an impressive snowstorm, embedded between that warmth. this is it right now. >> absolutely. pedram javaheri. nice to see you warm in

we're going to be dealing -- rosemary orozco. we're going to be dealing with these problems well into summer. >> you're right. we have tons of show in the sierra. they're talking about ski resorts staying open until the 4th of july holliday. so yes, a lot going on out there. this past weekend we saw another round of rain. we saw another huge dumping of snow for the sierra. in areas of vermille valley, more than an inch. oakland reported .8. san jose, .4 3. concord a little bit more than .9. a look at what's going on at this hour, the showers continue to wind down. as we look to the north bay we can still see some green on the screen. a little bit of rainfall down through napa, vallejo. it crosses over towards i-80, right there in between vallejo and fairfield. if we shift to the east bay we had a little bit over antioch. it looks like it is now beginning to shift farther inland. south bay, we've got dry conditions. a little bit of lingering shower activity right over the santa cruz mountains. in the sierra it was coming down pret

i'm rosemary connors. it's 9:00 on this sunday. one more bitter day of the blast of winter strurs and then we get a reprieve. meteorologist krystal klei has the most accurate forecast in the region. >> rosemary, it is very cold this morning. i'm surprised to see so many people out at the blue cross river rink. right now this is harsh. 11 degrees is what it feels like in philadelphia. northeast philly at 12. 8 for pottstown, 12 for allentown and 9 mt. holly to millville. this is a bit of an improvement. still single digits to around 10 degrees, not good to be outdoors in. here is part of the problem. it's the wind. still breezy out there. 16 at dover air force base. winds of 15 miles per hour in atlantic city. these winds still coming to the north to help bring in the cooler air. the winds make it feel colder than it truly is outside. radar and satellite shows us we are dry. today will be a sunny to mostly sunny day throughout. we'll look at the temperatures trending up. ger warmup for ynehborhood. her parents were also injurede . f

i'm rosemary connors. let's start with the weekend weather. we're in for another day of brutal temperatures. f meteorologist krystal klei has the forecast. >> good plan. it's colder than yesterday morning. we're six degrees colder in allentown, eight degrees colder in philadelphia, nine degrees colder than 24 hours ago in mt. holly. let's look at the actual temperatures. most of us in the teens. 12 right now in coatesville, 16 in philadelphia. you remember that was our forecast low for the morning. 14 in trenton, mt. holly and 15 in atlantic city. while these sound brutally cold, it feels about ten degrees colder than the numbers out there right now. in allentown, it feels like zero currently. not a good time to be outdoors. radar and satellite shows us we are clear. that's part of the problem. when you have clear conditions overnight, it allows the warmth from the presatmosphere. what you're left with are temperatures plummeting today, what we're expecting. ect temperatures. the blue line, that's a look at the feels-like conditions. we're goi

rosemary, back to you guys. >> jessica, thank you. a disturbing story we continue to follow breaking news. >> an eight day old baby was hurt. katie sackery is live at the hospital with details for us. >> reporter: some chaotic moments, frantic moments took place inside that nice town home earlier this morning. eight day old baby boy at einstein hospital getting checked out by nurses and staff. initially investigators told us he should be okay. here's what happened. the mother told police she was sleeping in her upstairs bedroom earlier this morning. she was sleeping with her newborn son on her chest when she says three men all wearing masks, all wearing gloves and all dressed in black clothing came onto her room, woke her up and said they were robbing the home. they then demanded that she get them money. she said, i'm holding my baby. i can't go get you money. and police say that's when one of the armed men, all three i mentioned had guns, one of the armed men [ inaudible ]. out of the mom's arms and the baby landed on the ground. now

rosemary, back to you guys. >> thanks, jess. following breaking news outs of philadelphia, a baby barely a week old is in the hospital following a home invasion in the city's nice town neighborhood. here's what we know. police tell us three armed men woke up the baby and his mother when they barged into this row home on north 18th street early this morning. the mother was holding the baby when the men demanded that she hand over money. one of the robbers then pushed the baby to the floor. police say it appears the infant will be okay. the men got away with catsh and two cell phones. we'll have breaking news here and on the nbc 10 app. >> 55 degrees, philadelphia crews are working to restore power to thousands of people and two philadelphia schools are closed following a massive fire at a pico substation. the fire sent flames and thick black smoke into the sky yesterday at pico's west more land substation in nice town, tioga. it cut power to 36,000 customers at its peak, and now pico reports 5400 remain without power. crews put o
