adam tuss, the first to report thator sick-out. he has more on what's behind all of this and how it will impact you. >> that's right, wendy. metro and its largest union are locked in a heated and contentious contract dispute, that's where all of this is coming from. metro workers have been telling their supervisors they're not coming into work on friday. that is what our sources are telling us. an e-mail has been going around telling supervisors they're going to have to staff up and be ready to work 12-hour shifts this entire weekend, just in case metro front line workers, like train operators and bus operators don't show up. what does that mean? really, it comes down to the nasty blood that is just going on now between metro and its largest union, as these contract disputes go out. a spokesperson for metro said there have been an unusually high number of absentee requests for this weekend. that's why they are taking this action. a says he doesn't believe a sick-out will happen, but it's a tactic that they are using to try to get t

adam tuss was there when it all went down. it was a pretty tense scene. you were live tweeting during the meeting. workers are trying to make some kind of statement. what is their main sticking point? >> reporter: so right now, jim, contract negotiations are under way between the union, the largest union in the metro system, and management. and really, the main sticking point, as we understand it, has to do with a raise and some pensions, but make no mistake, the blood has been bad between this union and the metro general manager. a lot of it goes back to the fact that this general manager has been taking a harder stand against this union than previous general managers have. it goes back to workers who have been fired for the issues with the derailments, things that you've seen. but it really hit a tipping point today and all of this is coming as we talked about the sick-out. these workers here turned their back on the general manager and the metro board and then marched out of metro headquarters, take a listen to this one metro union member. >> respect f
