for now, live in old city, matt delucia, nbc10 news. >>> now to camden county where hope church will hold a service at 6:30 this morning. >>> let's stay in south jersey for other news we are watching. a rowan university police officer is in the hospital after being hit by a car during a traffic stop. it happened on route 322 before 11:00 last night, and a car hit the officer. the driver of the striking car did stop at the scene, and the officer was awake and talking at the hospital last night. >>> philadelphia police are trying to track down this woman suspected of stealing from a chestnut store not once but twice. she was captured on sur+eillance cameras on two separate occasions in the last two months. her gray hair helped her blend in with other customers. the video shows her walk over the store, and slowly paoickingp trays and items and putting them in a plastic bag. >> it's shocking when you see her doing that on video, and it's right there in front of you. >> managers tell us an inventory check showed they lost $500 worth of merchandise in the two incidents. >>> and mike pence

matt delucia is live on the scene to fill us in on what he has learned. matt? >> reporter: part of the boulevard is shut down right now, and you can see some lanes are open behind me. let's show you some of the video since it is hard to see from our vantage point. detectives confirm they have people at the scene for a report of a shooting and that homicide detectives are involved here as well, this is a homicide investigation. what we have been told so far, there was a shooting that happened at the roosevelt boulevard and summer dale avenue. we are waiting to get more specific information on what happened here this morning, but there was a vehicle that crossed all lanes of the boulevard and crashed on the other side of the road here, so you can imagine roosevelt boulevard, how many lanes there are. if you are traveling around the area right now you can see the barricades there, although we are just talking about the outer lanes of the northbound side of roosevelt at summerdale avenue. that the inner lanes and southbound side is unaffected. we are waiting to get

that's where nbc 10's matt delucia is live this morning with the very latest. matt? >> reporter: hey, rosemary. this is the park where that little girl was found. it's about 7 miles away from the spot where she was abducted on thursday. so police are warning parents throughout the area to be on the lookout. and also to warn their kids about the dangers of getting involved with strangers. now, the kidnapping happened on thursday, new castle county police say they were called out to the plum run neighborhood, and for the 4-year-old went missing, about two hours later, police found her walking alone here in banning park. children here saw what happened. witnesses say the man pulled up in a dark sedan, it had tinted windows, and windows were playing outside. and the man started talking with the young girl. >> i saw him wave his hands to get in the car. he snatched one of them and started casing after the car and i said, leave those girls alone. >> the person approached the little girl and said that he had something for her mommy, like a note for her mommy. and she went t

and matt delucia joins us live from the scene. the question for septa riders is about possible impacts to their trains. >> reporter: right, george, i will get out of the way so you can see the vehicle right there parked on one of the septa tracks here at the firm rock station. it went down the stairs here on to the platform and ended up on the railway there. the good news for riders is from what we have seen this is not impacting travel on the regional trail too much here at this stop, and the track closest to us is clear, and we have seen trains coming and going from this side towards the center city airport side. it's important to note that we are talking about the regional rail tracks, and it's not affectiaffect affecti affecting the broad street next to us. it might take a little bit of time as you might imagine to get the car off the tracks, and these tracks closest to us, there are three sets of them, so there are two that is closest to us that are free and clear and it's just that one track that is being affected furthest a

nbc 10's matt delucia, what can you tell us? >> they are very busy here at the special victims unit. this morning they do have some new information, but not a whole lot. >> i hope she okay. >> reporter: neighbors on the 1300 block of west butler street are still in shock and anger over what happened in this abandoned home yesterday afternoon. around 5:00 p.m. philly police say three teenage boys approacheded a 13-year-old girl who was walking down the street. they dragged her inside the home and assaulted her. >> that's ridiculous. for little kids to be raping little kids. what are we coming to? >> the home was boarded up, but neighbors say that hasn't been enough to stop pretrespassers. this morning we went back to that house to find nothing has changed. >> just so devastated. it's horrible. >> police believe they were 15 or 16 years old. she was able to tell detectives what happened. so far, no arrests. >> we only have nicknames on one or two of them right now, but we need the public's help. it's a very nasty and ugly crime. >

matt delucia is live in camden. bring us up to speed on this case. >> reporter: the trial date had been delayed several times. as you mentioned, that jury selection is expected to begin today. the next step in this process. a year and a half following the death of this 3-year-old boy. over the weekend, a memorial that had been set up over the past year and a half for brandon creato was removed. this the spot where he was found dead in october of 2015. the candles and stuffed animals were taken away because the jury will be expected to make a trip to the site at a wooded area near the cooper river at some point during the trial. prosecutors say it was the boy's dad, 23-year-old david creato jr., who killed the boy because he was hindering a relationship with his teenage girlfriend. creato has pleaded not guilty to murder and child endangerment charges. he says the boy wandered away on his own. prosecutors, though, say the boy suffered from homicidal violence. jury selection is expected to begin today. we'll keep you

t matt delucia is at the boy's and girl's club. tell us what's going on. >> reporter: this is one of the places that will have volunteers. very busy today. there are a lot of events going on. so victorino, boys and girls club, it will be very, very packed later on this morning. about 200 people at this one location ready to work. that work will start just after 8:00. this is the 16th year for comcast cares day. comcast, a parent company of nbc 10. so every year we see people getting out and doing some good work. it is a very big project. more than 100,000 people in all will be taking part to help clean up and we'll be doing these projects to help the community. the folks here in nicetown will be cleaning, painting, doing some landscaping around the building. and the volunteers will be all at this one spot. we talked about this being a big effort. there are about a thousand different projects going on throughout the country and some around the world to revitalize parks, paint murals, and stock up community food banks. a lot of good

. >> matt delucia is live in center city. tell us what's happening now. >> reporter: well, the last phase of closures was delayed until 6:00 this morning to coincide with a new traffic police shift. right now we're along kelly drive where it is shut down. you see that some cars are making their way around the art museum. right over there by akens oval, that is shut down. the ben franklin parkway shut down. we will see some closures expanding to the side streets from 21st to 24th street. parts of spring garden, and a few spots will be local access only. francesca's been talking about what and will talk about it more throughout the morning. bear in mind the ben franklin parkway already closed now from 20th through the art museum. all of this as we prepare for, by one estimate, around 200,000 people. businesses around here are certainly hoping for a piece of that action. so the setup and all the preparation thus far has drawn a bit of curiosity from some and confusion for others. even taxi drivers, they have been wondering what

nbc10's matt delucia joins us live from our digital operations center. we're hearing from some of the victim's family members. >> reporter: that's right. they say this guy was a good man, and they just saw him earlier in the day. what's more, police believe this was entirely a random attack. this is a portion of the video posted to facebook. that's the suspect, steve stephens. the suspect recorded a manifesto on his planned killing spree. then the video shows the suspect getting out of the car and telling a man on the street he is about to die because of a woman. a handgun appears, there's a gunshot. moments later, the victim is laying in blood. the victim has been identified as robert godwin sr., 74. his family told reporters they are heartbroken. >> this man right here was a good man. i hate that he's gone. what i'm going do. it's not real. >> feels like my heart is going to stop. >> it will be all right. >> it feels like it's going to stop. >> reporter: i've been keeping tabs on the coverage out of cleveland, checking for updates. a facebook spokesper

matt delucia is live at the crash scene. matt? >> reporter: this is where it happened here at the intersection of summerdale and the boulevard. the shooting happened intersect swerved and went across to the other side. the area was shut down for a while but it has since re-opened. here's video whe s that investigation underway, a this morning. a car was driving on summ traff and a white cadillac drove alongside and somebody started shooting at that victim'm was s times in the upper body, and that victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6:00 this morning. now the cadillac, we are told, went south on roosevelt right now police have no idea why it happened and what the motive for the shooting, and there's one witness who told police what happened and where that cadillac traveled, and police are trying to find any evidence in the form of surveillance cameras, and this area was pretty much cordoned off earlier this morning with police tape and there were two different scenes here with the incident, but police have left th

matt delucia is live there to show us what drivers can expect. matt? >> reporter: the closures will be in effect for the next couple of weeks until that draft is over. that is something that you will need to plan. first i'll show you what happened just after midnight here. you see the closure here at spring garden and pennsylvania avenue. this road shut down at ben knight. you see the orange barrels and barricades. let's show a map of what is affected now. the left lane closed from eakins oval to spring garden. the right two lanes in front of the art museum steps are closed. and southbound kelly drive lost a lane between 25th street and the parkway. we were there yesterday as crews started putting up the barricades, getting ready for the shutdown. we talked with drivers about what this will do to their ride to work. >> this is my route to work every morning. so it will definitely be inconvenient. >> i definitely think it's worth it. philadelphia's a great city. it will be great to be on the national stage for such an awesome event. >> reporter: all rig

nbc10's matt delucia is live with breaking details. bring us up to speed. >> reporter: that was about three, four hours ago. much different scene this hour. this is the home on zimmerman avenue. and because of that daylight, we see more of the back of this house. firefighters are still here putting water on this home. there was a collapse there. the upper floors collapsed on the first floor that you see there. so quite a bit of damage. take a look again. when we arrived on the scene, heavy flames in the back of this house. firefighters did have some trouble early on. some trouble with a fire hydrant, getting water to this scene. so that complicated things a little bit early on. the good news is that everyone who was inside the house made it out safely. there were two families with children in there. they did get out. i'm told that there were four units in this one home. there are apartments here, three stories high. again, those top two floors did collapse as a result of the intense flames. a couple of firefighters had to jump from a w

matt delucia is live with more on the abrupt change and when a replacement could be coming. this will be a real pain for drivers. >> reporter: not good, tracy, that's for sure -- especially if you got used to this method of doing. it the problem simply was that the company that runs the meterup app ran into financial problems. i checked the app store here, and it still says that the app is not available. you can't even download this. the idea was that you could go to one of these kiosks, you start by putting your money in. and you" add time and pay -- and then you can add time and pay by phone. if you're in a restaurant, somewhere, you know, a starbucks, a coffee shop, and you don't want to go back out to put money in the meter, you didn't have to. you could do it by the phone. this app launched two years ago, at one point bringing in $15,000 a day from philly parking meters. the parking authority, though, is no longer accepting this app. what does this mean for you? you have to physicalygo to the kiosk -- physically go to the kio kiosk. some drivers are annoyed by that now.
