scott macfarlane sat down with rosenstein to talk about the fup of that case. >> reporter: rod rosenstein oversaw thousands of local cases, serving since 2005 in three presidential administrations. among the big local cases he's handled, the high-profile ongoing prosecution of deante careaway, the prince george's county elementary school aid who has pleaded guilty to exploiting children to produce pornography. rosenstein brought federal charges in that case and secured the guilty plea without needing to call any of the children to court as witnesses. >> when they are facing that federal prosecution, most defendants who are guilty will realize it's in their interests to plead guilty. you don't have to go to court at all. it's really important to be able to protect children from being subject to the emotional stress. >> rosenstein says an acting lead prosecutor will take over in his office and his case will not slow down. careaway is scheduled for sentencing in june facing up to 100 years in prison. his defense attorney declined our request for comment. scott macfarlane, news4. >>> it's har

. >> scott macfarlane asked him about the future of that case. >> reporter: he made major headlines a few weeks ago bringing a series of high profile corruption cases in prince georges county including charges against two county liquor board officials and two liquor business owners. those cases still pending. he also won a guilty plea from will campo to a federal bribery charge. another state delegate, michael von, pleaded not guilty. he faces possible trial. rosenstein is overseeing those hand off cases and they won't slow down as suggested there could be more cases to come. >> you are stepping away at the very beginning of some sweeping corruption cases in prince georges county. do those push forward at the same speed? >> if you do this job right there will always be important cases in the pipeline. no matter what time you go you will be leaving things behind. there are cases you know of and some you don't know about yet. >> in his new role he will oversee more than 100,000 federal workers, more than a dozen agencies and will be the right hand man of attorney general jeff sessions.
