good evening, i'm ken bastida. >> i'm elizabeth cook. let's get right to joe vasquez at sfo. >> reporter: that flight was scheduled to arrive just a couple of hours ago. it had to take a major detour because of a fire in an overhead apartment. the flight originated from jfk airport in new york headed here to sfo, but had to be diverted to michigan after a fire on board. >> any injuries on board from the fire? >> not that we are aware of. >> reporter: some time after jet blue 915 left new york, passengers noticed something was wrong. caylee e-mailed us to tell us passengers noticed the smoke coming from row 25. turns out the lithium battery from a laptop inside a carry on in the overhead bin had caught fire. the flight crew put out the fire and decided to do an emergency landing in grand rapids michigan. >> i was stunned. i knew something was going to happen. because, you know, lithium batteries catching on fire. you can't help but think you have to do something. so, i was prepared for it. >> reporter: the jet landed around 8:00 local tim

i'm ken bastida. kpix 5's betty yu shows a san francisco police just identified a person of interest in this case.>> reporter: san francisco police now suspect foul play in this missing persons case. they are looking for san francisco resident bob king. he did not show up for an interview with investigators here yesterday and today, his family reported him missing. this is the man san francisco police are searching for. he is a person of interest in the case of a missing an uber driver, husband and father of two. he has not been seen since mother's day. >> foul play is suspected because we had an interview scheduled with him and he did not show up for that interview. there is a connection between the two as they are family acquaintances. >> reporter: police now believe came has fled the country, possibly to his native cambodia.>> i was in disbelief that bob is a suspect on my husband's disappearance. we are friends. we went everywhere together and as a group. >> reporter: here is a photo of the two me

i'm ken bastida. >> and i'm michelle griego. >>> in less than four hours we should learn the verdict for the man accused of killing sierra lamar. the jury is expected to read it at 9:00 this morning. anne makovec has been following the case and joins us live outside the courthouse. anne. >> reporter: i've been following this case for five years, and sierra lamar's body has never been found so we are dealing with a lot of circumstantial evidence in this case and the defendant is eligible for the death penalty if he is found guilty of capital murder. antolin garcia torres has pleaded not guilty in the case of the 15-year-old sierra lamar. she disappeared on her way to school in morgan hill in 2012. garcia was arrested after investigators found her dna on his -- his dna on her jeans in a field near her home. sierra's dna was then found on an interior back seat door handle and on the outside of a pair of work gloves in garcia torres' car. the defense suggests that sierra lamar was unhappy at home and just ran away. >> the defense did a good job of relating to the jury in what is a very d

i'm ken bastida. >> and i'm anne makovec in for michelle griego. it is 6:30. boy, this happened right after this new water park opened. jessica flores joining us live now with more on the investigation into what went wrong. jessica. >> reporter: well, that's right. it happened just hours into the grand opening here at the new wave water park here in dublin. now, the boy was going down a thrill ride, right behind me you can see it's three stories tall. it was going down and somehow flew off in the landing area. now, that's what investigators are trying to figure out, what happened there. the 10-year-old boy was going down the emerald plunge when he fell off the edge of the slide. the ground was 2 feet below, the boy was able to walk away with scrapes, his parents had to take him to the hospital to get checked out. the steve of -- city the dublin owns and operates the park. after the accident they closed the emerald plunge and the city also closed another thrill slide citing safety. today the manufacturer of the slide will be here trying to determine what went w
