lindsay watts is live in northwest with the details. lindsay. >> reporter: the shooting happened in courtyard of this apartment complex. this is on q street about a block and a half west of north capitol street. investigators say that late last night, there were a group of people having a gathering and two men started shooting. at this point, police aren't saying if this was random or targeted or what the motive might have been. at this point, there is just one police car here, we'll show you what it looked like earlier. the shootingings happened around 1:00 in the morning, there were a lot of shots fire. seven men and one woman hit by gunfire. police identified the man who died as 32-year-old al harvey jones of southeast. i asked police if the shooters were attending the what led up but for now they're not saying. the suspects are described as black men wearing dark clothing and who left the scene in a black car. the victims who survived were taken to area hospitals and expected to recover. >> alarming upsetting. it's a whole range of
