matt keller is there for us this morning. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. wow. what a fire. this started at 3:00 and here we are an hour and a half later and it's still burning. they have a lot of water going on to the building, one, two, three aerial attacks from the ladder and two attacks from the ground, and this is now a defensive effort by firefighters, and just trying to put the flames out. no risk to the building now, it's destroyed, and no risk to people on the inside so they are staying on the outside and fighting it defensively. this is an abandoned o'reilly auto parts store. when we first arrived here on the scene just before 4:00, we saw part of the building collapse. i just talked with the firefighter and he said there were three parts of the building that collapsed this morning. we did talk to a captain that told me that they got this call from a security guard that saw the fire, and they did say homeless people were sleeping around the building and they are not sure what cause

matt keller. >> reporter: what a relief. hopefully these people that landed just after midnight at sfo are getting rest this morning. what a frightening experience on the plane last night. they were on a jetblue flight headed to sfo when they ran into problems. the faa tells us a lithium battery on a passenger's laptop caught fire in the backpack that was in the cabin of plane, and they had to make an emergency landing in grand rapids, michigan. >> it was scary to see smoke on the plane, and we are at 35,000 feet and all of a sudden he hear an announcement, and we look back, and smoke is coming and we didn't know what was happening ppb. >> i didn't know what to think, basically. >> reporter: the fire was put out before the plane landed around 8:00 p.m. in michigan, and nobody was hurt and no damage to the plane, and passengers report they were at the grand rapids airport for a little less than three hours, and then passengers continued on to san francisco, and that plane took off already and is on its way to florida. matt ke

matt keller is live in lafayette. >> reporter: good morning, natasha and reggie. th difference between these fires overnight and fires that took place last night, these were not in the driveways paurp parked on the street. these fires are being collal arson. neighbors on juanita drive and walnut creek called firefighters at 2:00 a.m. here a different story, 11 minutes later another call of another car on fire about a mile away, and this one, that toyota suv on crescenta court here on lafayette, and that parked on the street. this follows yesterday's fires in brentwood and martinez had one earlier this week. and firefighters are trying to figure out if this is just one person or a group of people. they are asking for tips if you have information, you are asked to give them a call. matt keller, abc7 news. >>> chp is asking for help this morning in finding suspect in a wine country drive-by shooting. somebody in a truck open fire on two people in a honda accord on highway 101 in healdsburg. the victims exchanged words with a person in a lunch truck minutes earlier. t

matt keller is live for us in san jose. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. more than three months for the trial and less than two days for the deliberations and this morning the jury is expected to announce that verdict in about two and a half hours here in this courthouse. antolin garcia-torres is charged with first degree murder for murdering sierra lamar, accused of doing that. he faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole if he is convicted. the prosecution says he killed the 15-year-old and that his dna was found on her discarded clothing and her dna was found in his car. the defense says the dna evidence is flawed and since sierra's body has not been found, this is nothing more than a missing person's case. here's legal analyst steven clark. >> is it possible sierra lamar could still be alive? if that is the case that would then explain why they came back so quickly if they felt the d.a. didn't prove that sierra lamar was, in fact, dead. >> garcia torres is on also trial for the attempted kidnappings of three women in a safeway parking lo

it closed four lanes on 580 in livermore. >> matt keller has been on the scene all morning long. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning reggie and jessica. this is where the crash took place on 580 at about ago, and the ngood news it has been cleared but the bad news one person was killed in the trash. it happened before 2:30 this morning, the hyundai accent crashed into a wall and ended up disabled in the middle lanes, and then a toyota corolla crashed into it, and then a car crashed into both of those cars. >> the accident was spread throughout the lanes and the car was being held together by a seat belt, and part of the car started to burn, the debris that went over into the center divider. >> reporter: the drivers tried to get the driver of the accent out of his car, but that driver, a man 20 to 30 years old died at the scene. one other driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. >>> back out to breaking news we are following in vacaville this morning. asuspected shooting of a car theft at the outlet there. >> amy hollyfield is live. >> reporter: we just got
