in san jose, betty yu, kpix 5. >>> san francisco police are investigating another deadly shooting after 12:30 a.m. last night on mission street. when officers arrived they found a man shot. and another man with a gun. the suspect was arrested. his name and the name of the victim have not been released. >> reporter: kite surfers are safe after getting stranded. san francisco coast guard was called into help before 8:00 p.m. last night. an hour later they found the two clinging to a navigation buoy. neither were wearing life jackets but thanks to the coast guard both made it out okay. >>> another accidents around the bay area in california have not ended well. a man drowned last night near antioch. kpix 5's da lin says it points out the necessity for responsible boating. >> reporter: search and rescue scoured the water last night for a missing boater. they say the 53-year-old man who was not wearing a life jacket jumped into the water to retrieve his hat. he ended up losing more. his friends tried to pull him up but lost sight of him. >> sad to hear. sounds like it was an impulsive decisi

overall 50s in the san francisco area. embarcadero high of 59, but san francisco should be hitting the 60, 61-degree mark. in the north bay, napa if you're heading up there to do wine tasting, sonoma, napa, a gorgeous day. keeping the 70s in the forecast. but heading to the beach, it will definitely be a little cold out there. for today expect to see the 50s in the forecast. if you're heading over to santa cruz and maybe getting an earlier start on the mother's day celebration, you won't have any issues out there when it comes to the sun. 59 degrees by 1:00, by 2:00, 51 degrees, warming up to 55, 57. lake tahoe expecting to see nice temperatures, but unfortunately we're seeing a combination of a few snow/rain showers in the forecast, and that's at about 1:00, 2:00. if you do plan on driving up there and hanging out there, please do keep that in mind and check out the road conditions. mother's day looking gorgeous, but on the breezier side expecting upper 50s and 60s for tomorrow. over the next seven days a high of about 60

san francisco at 55 and 58 in the north bay. we're just now about to see a little bit of sunshine along the coast and in parts of the north bay with high temperatures in santa rosa and napa reaching the low to mid-80s and oakland up ir60s there and some upper 80s for the inland valleys and the delta. we're looking at 78 degrees in the south bay in san jose. half moon bay will only make it up to 59 degrees. i don't think we'll be able to shake the clouds and fog and let's go to the rest of the day as we take a live look outside. getting the clouds thing out and temperatures in the next couple of hours making it into the upper 70s. now yesterday it was much warmer, and we're starting to make some improvement here, and by this afternoon, as you get ready to head home fromwork or going out this afternoon for a walk, it will be in the low 70s with mostly sunny skies. we will start to see some clouds moving back in later on tonight with some lower 60s, and we're make plans for the weekend once again. there are so many events going on.

live in south san francisco, jackie ward, kpix 5. >>> today san francisco fire officials are set to demonstrate new technology that aims to speed up response times to 911 calls. kpix 5's anne makovec is live in our newsroom on the power outage that exposed a significant shortage in dispatchers. >> reporter: imagine dialing 101 with no answer. that's what happens to people in san francisco on a daily basis but it really came to a head last month a massive power outage affecting 90,000 homes and businesses on april 21. there were only a dozen dispatchers on duty to handle hundreds of calls that came from people stuck in elevators to typical medical emergencies. in response to being so overwhelmed that day, the city is hiring more dispatchers and looking to technology to help fill the gap. san francisco received more than 1.2 million calls for help per year an average of more than 3400 per day. and over this past 6 years, there's been a 37% increase in call volume. the way it works right now, 911 dispatchers use a map that shows the location of ambulances and that relies on where a medic reports f

and 53 degrees in san francisco. north bay also 53. but you're noticing as you head out the door in parts of the bay area, kind of misty with the cloudy skies, and a look at the high temperatures today, up to 72 degrees in the south bay. going to be so nice. but not a lot of sun today, and it will be windy. we'll talk about all of this coming up in about six minutes. mike is still tracking the crash in san jose. >> kari, we could be clearing lanes for over an hour now. at one point, highway 101 was completely closed, as we get a look at the overall commute. the southbound side of the bay shore freeway at brokaw, we have traffic restoring southbound two lanes are open. two lanes are still closed. major injuries after a crash, originally with a disabled vehicle and then a crash resulted. be very careful on the roadways and watch for anything unusual along the drive. northbound 101, we have that normal slowing, north from 68 toward 880. and a slower drive developing for the east shore freeway, but nothing dramatic. metering lights are on.
