also alex cannot, a partner at firehouse strategies. so i've got all of you with me here to discuss this issue. matt, to you first. do you perceive that journalists, reporters, commentators, are trying to get this president impeached? >> well, i was on sean's show on friday. i think there's real truth to what he says. i think when we say words or terms like "the media," obviously media is very diverse. i think it's very fair to say that the overwhelming percentage of people who are reporters in this country tend to contribute to liberal causes and vote for liberal candidates. i think that's undisputed. i think there's a lot of kind of post-election malaise by reporters who felt like they gave donald trump a free pass during the primaries and they're trying to overcompensate for this coverage. and i think it is further dividing them from the viewers. even though everyone's numbers are up all over the dial, because so many people are engaged to listening about politics because of all of this tumult in the trump presidency. but there is no

alex: no, i'm not. the geopolitical threat is much more around military conflict or some kind of fundamental change around commodities, something you might see in the middle east around oil. what do we know about the relationship between the trump administration and russia? there are a couple of people under investigation. when can we have a clearer picture? >> that is really the thousand ruble question or however you want to put it. frankly, we don't know. there are a lot of unknown unknowns about what role russia played in the u.s. election and how it played it. we have seen evidence of some links between figures and president trump's organization and entourage, but we really don't have any smoking gun yet. there is some smoke, there is not a lot of fire. at this point. what this has done is it has put the trump administration in something of a bind with regard to russia, in that president trump has expressed consistently a desire to improve relations with moscow. the testimony of james comey and othe

alex: yeah. the question is will the political environment in the united states prevent any of these u.s. airlines from saying yes to something like this? or is it possible that there is much strategic argument for american to say ok, qatar did this with i.a.g. and they haven't really influenced things like quality or operations. although really on the flip side, you could argue american would want some input from qatar airways. qatar airways just won sort of like the oscar awards in the aviation industry for the best airline. and of course american airlines and really all of the major american airlines really struggle from a consumer standpoint on a quality basis. but there is no evidence that owning a minority stake in an airline actually leads to any sort of operational changes. vonnie: yeah. what will be the next steps, michael, that we see as some kind of board vote? will we be told when that will be? american already just basically directed requests to the 8-k which gives us the details on

alex: i think it is. i think it brings a bit of rationality back to sellers in terms of their expectations. in the private sector coming you have much fewer markers for price expectations. people get enticed by recent evaluations that have been seen in the public market. we had an ipo window open up where valuations went to relatively healthy levels in my opinion. as long as we have price signals like this and sellers expectations come down to rational levels, does create some very good opportunities for us. at do think that part of our positioning has been looking at where we see less commodity price sensitive businesses and businesses more driven by schematics like the need for asset integrity come off at spending at was a large sector globally. the has the has to be a lot of ongoing spending to keep the business running and that is where we are looking at more investments at this point in the cycle. jason: when you look at those deals, is it mostly north america? you obviously have a global footprint.
