. >> jon: let's get the latest from john roberts who is live on the north line. >> good morning to you. james comey is expected to testify before the senate intelligence committee as soon as next week. we are told that he has been running by his testimony with the special prosecutor to ensure there is no conflict between what comey might say and congress under oath before senate intelligence committee and the investigation that robert mueller is conducting. on the house side of things, things are starting to move quickly. the fbi, the cia, and the nsa requested documents on susan rice, the former national security advisor and the obama white house, john brennan, and samantha power who was the ambassador to the united nations under president obama. power has never been mentioned until now in connection with the investigation, but intelligence chairman devon nunez believes she had significant involvement in the unmasking. the ranking member, adam schiff is said to put out his own set of subpoenas. they include general michael flynn as well as michael cole hin. this afternoon we are going

you and our chief white house correspondent, john roberts, here with with more. john? >> the president to be meeting with his cabinet in the next few minutes. second time that he has met with the cabinet. the first time he has met with the full cabinet. the last time he met was back in march. there was still up for members missing. the president making an attempt monday morning to get the agenda back on track, declaring this workplace environment week. you saw ivanka talk about that a moment ago. and he was tweeting last night, great numbers on the economy. all of our work, including the passage of many bills and regulation through executive orders now kicking in. last week, which was an infant with, was overshadowed by james comey's testimony. first to come ivanka trump, who is a big part in this week's policy proposal, said that she thought the testimony turned out well for her father. here listen now. >> he felt very vindicated. with all the statements that were making. he feels incredibly optimistic. but you know, at the white hous white house, and trust administra

thank you, john roberts. mitch mcconnell is working to hammer out a new healthcare deal seeking a recipe that can get the backing that can pass. he's sending new ingredients to score the cost before the senators return from their holiday weekend. mike, is there a new deadline, another new deadline, i should say, for a deal? >> reporter: julie, not officially, but some are suggesting if there's not an agreement by july 10th when senators return to the capitol, it might be time for a plan b. there's a lot of tension here on capitol hill. they've been wrestling with healthcare reform for weeks. mitch mcconnell is still trying to find a path to 50 votes to pass his healthcare package. >> mr. president, senators in the white house are continuing discussions on the path forward on bringing relief from obamacare, and its collapsing markets. we've made good progress and we'll keep working. as we do, our focus will remain on the major obamacare problems that continue to hurt americans all across our country. >> we are

john roberts is live at the white house. john? >> clearly, shep, there's a lot of history here, personal history and a big back story to the relationship between. trump and the two hosts of the morning show. they used to have a good relationship. there's reports that both hosts were at his new year's eve party at madison square garden. the while house is portraying this as what happened this morning was a last straw when mika suggested the president was lying about his agenda, "destroying the country." that's when the president fired off that tweet. sarah huckabee sanders at the daily press briefing giving the first question to me, i asked her, given the response from the president's backers on capitol hill if he went too far this morning. listen to her response. >> i don't think is. the president has been attacked mer mer mercilously. i don't think it's a surprise to anybody that he fights fire with fire. >> no shortage of response from the president's colleagues on the capitol hill. you can see lindsey graham's response. susan c

. >> leland: john roberts on the north lawn. we know the math is tight, republicans can only lose two in the senate. how much arm-twisting do we expect the president to have to do and for that matter, to do? >> i think he will be gently twisting arms, but you can bet the president and the white house will be heavily involved in trying to win over the senators who say they can't sign onto the bill. so far, they say they don't like it the way they it is. senior administration official this morning told me that the white house will be working hard behind the scenes, not as overtly as they were on the house bill, to make changes in the bill that could attract the support of at least two, if not all of those senators. the president telling us on fox and friends this morning that he is optimistic that he can get things done. >> it's a very complicated situation from a standpoint, you do something that's good for one group, but bad for another. it's a very, very narrow path. i think we're going to get there. we have four very good peop
