this is a live view of philadelphia over center city. you can see the sun reflecting off the buildings on the second comcast tower. gorgeous shots we've got as we go through today, we'll see a mix of clouds and sun that we currently have and also the possibility of isolated showers. we start in the low 70s. we'll get to the low 80s by around 3:00 p.m. our official high will be around the mid 80 in philadelphia and low to mid 80s for the suburbs. you see on the planner, 78, both 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. why? because we'll see our high earlier in the day before some spotty showers and clouds start to move into the forecast, particularly over the suburbs and the lehigh valley. this is where we may see a spot shower move through. this is showing mostly sunny conditions, but still i think a cell or two may drop by. we're right near 80 degrees for the high in the lehigh valley. delaware, 80 at 11:00 a.m. right around the mid 80s for highs in delaware and new jersey and along the shore, close to the low 80s as well for the forecast high with a

philadelphia and wilmington. you can see the wet weather that is moving through south central pennsylvania and into maryland. that's going to be moving in this morning. first of it arriving during the morning commute. that's not going to be all of it. there are more showers lining up to the southwest. much of this is coming from what was a tropical storm. if you look closely you can see what's left of the storm system. winds down to 15 miles an hour. seeing very heavy rain in arkansas. moving slowly. this system is going to have an impact on our weather not only today, but this afternoon and tonight and into tomorrow as the showers you can see to the west heavier downpours. those come in during the morning hours at 9:00. look at the rain coming down to philadelphia and into south jersey. going to temporarily drop the temperatures. really going to heat things up and likely lead to more showers this afternoon and possibly thunderstorms. these could be strong thunderstorms popping up with heavy downpours into this a

the philadelphia councilman at large has grown up on the same block in west philadelphia. since the '60s, it's where he grew up. it was on that block the 5800 block of thomas avenue he was attacked by an attempted robber. the councilman had just gotten home from work. it was close to 10:00 p.m. he was getting bags out of his trunk when a man walked up and said something. now the councilman could not ubs what the man said so he engaged him further and then this happened. >> the councilman was stabbed in his side and as you heard from police lieutenant johnny walker, he said that this was a crime of opportunity. they do not believe at this time that david oh was targeted because of the nature of his work. coming up in the next half hour, we'll tell you more about the hunt going on for the suspect. we'll also talk more about who the councilman is as a person in his job and how that may have affected him being a target. >> jim ken knee says we are praying for the councilman's quick recovery. whenever violence happens on our streets, it's a terrible tragedy. when it happens nea
