police are trying to figure out a motive behind the deadly ambush of a new york police officer. that is a story we first broke to you yesterday in the kron four morning news. 48-year-old miosotis familia was shot and killed early yesterday morning in the bronx. she had just started her midnight shift when she was shot while writing in her notebook inside a police car. the gunman was later shot and killed by police about a block away. police say the shooter had a violent history and vented his anger about police in a facebook video last september. familia was a 12-year police veteran a single mother of three. philadelphia police and housing authority police remain on the scene in south philadelphia atmosphere the investigation continues. shortly before 2:00 a.m., police were called to the 2700 block of daily terrace, a 21-year-old woman had severe stab wound to her neck, her 48-year-old mother was stabbed in her neck and chest. that mother was initially talking to police providing them with information about what happened. both women were rushed to area hospitals, but the mother died from her injuries around 3:45 a.m. police have his name and address in north philadelphia. he has been arrested before, but investigators have not said why. police real time crime cameras revealed the suspect fleeing on foot. they don't know if he got a into car after that. police say he and the 21-year-old victim recently broke up. >> he was upset by the fact he got dumped. that's the in fact we're getting that motivated this stabbing. >> reporter: there was another person inside the house at the time. we don't know what that person's relationship is to the mother and daughter. that person is a witness and ta

police are still searching for the shooter. joe cerletti was heading home to pittsburg when the shooting happened on saturday night. as he was approaching the 6-80 -- 242 split, a car pulled along side him and cut him off. cerletti pulled along side the car and starting talking with the driver. he says the driver swore at him and then began shooting. ( darya ) the shooter was driving a 20-17 white mercedes c-l-a 250. c-h-p says this shooting is different than past freeway shootings. most of those shootings were targeted or gang related, while this shooting appears to be random. ( mark ) the brutal assault of a man near the richmond bart station last week is now under investigation by richmond police. bart has turned over surveillance video of the attackers to richmond police officers. but that video is not yet being released to the public. richmond mayor
