a memorial service is schedule ed in petaluma today for 23-year-old marine corporal skyler james. who died after he was struck by lightning last month in north carolina. it happened while he worked as an aviation mechanic. last night, friends and family gathered to pay tribute. american legion and patriot guard riders were inside the terminal as the marine master sergeant care ryued the ashes of the 23-year-old petaluma high school graduate. family members say he enlisted in the marines in 2014. >> when ever i would talk to him, he was like mom, it's just a mechanic. they told me he excelled at an exceptional rate and the morning this happened, he was promoted to lead mechanic on the osprey, i don't know the technical words, but he never bragged about it. >> for the four days skyler was there before he was pronounced brain dead, there was a vigil of his marine brothers and sisters that were there costantly. the marines really mean it when they say they're family and they took such good care of robin. >> a motorcade lead by riders and local law enforcement headed to the coast guard

visibility a quarter of a mile or less around petaluma, napa and along the shoreline here. so live doppler 7 taking you into the hurricane here, it's a category 1 with winds of 80 miles an hour. this is harvey, it moved on shore as a category 4, so even though it's weakened they are still looking at a really big storm surge and the rain which will continue to fall right into next week. so as it weakens it looks like it's going to move out back over the water and then move back in. so as we look at the 80 mile an hour winds today, the winds will decrease sunday, but look at the rain bands, they continue to move up through corpus christi and houston, victoria, texas has got anywhere from 16 1/2 inches and more rain coming down now, that is in between here, and as we look at the forecast going into sunday, the bull's-eye continues to add more rain in some of the isolated spots up to 30 and 40 inches of rain into next wednesday. so unfortunately this thing is going to continue to bring the storm surge, the heavy rain for several days. a live look outside here from mt. tam and y
