amy hollyfield is there. good morning, amy. >> reporter: hi, jessica. good morning. it is quite a process getting a hospital reopened. they don't have any surgeries scheduled for today, but they will be open and ready to go for any emergency surgeries as needed. here is a look at that stressful evacuation that had to happen a week ago. this is video provided to us by sutter hospital here in santa rosa, it shows the fire threatening the building, they evacuated 77 patients to other bay area hospitals. a spokeswoman tells me this morning they won't be moving all of them back. some might not need to come back, but they are reopening and are ready to accept any new patients. they had to clean the hospital to get ready for this day and pass inspection with two state agencies. so that they could reopen. they're reopening today at 7:00 and hoping that this will be healing for all involved, not just the patients. at least 60 of the employees here lost their homes in the fires. so it's been a very stressful week in many ways for this hospital and they are ready to get back to

abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live in concord this morning. >> reporter: good morning. we've been telling people here at this gas station how smart they are to fill up today but they didn't even know what was happening. they are just here today because they need gas. starting tomorrow gas is going to cost more. our gas tax goes into effect tomorrow, it's 12 cents more a gallon, 20 cents morton diesel. this is california's new gas tax. the drivers we have talked to today about it are less than thrilled. >> that's crazy. that sucks. i mean, i guess it's good for our roads, i guess, but isn't there enough tax money that goes into the roads? yeah, that's ridiculous. >> reporter: this is to pay for our roads. the tax is expected to bring in $52 billion over the next ten years to pay for road improvements. electric vehicles don't have to pay this tax, but you do have to pay $100 a year to go toward road maintenance. again, starting tomorrow, 12 cents more a gallon, fill up today if you can. reporting live in concord, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >>> bart's new fare inspection

amy hollyfield has been covering this neighborhood. she joins us live with an update. what's the situation now? >> reporter: hi, good morning, natasha. we're at oakmont drive and highway 12. you can see police are stationed here to make sure people do not come into this neighborhood. it is under a mandatory evacuation. i checked in with cal fire, the spokesperson. he tells me the fire was on tail ridge last night. he is working to get more information about what happened overnight. police start this hed this evac yesterday afternoon as the fire started approaching the oakmont neighborhood here in santa rosa. not everyone wanted to go, though. police documented the people who decided to stay. >> they said good luck. that's going to be it. >> reporter: this is a retirement community. we have had a lot of people contacting us wanting information about their parents' home. the fire officials say they'll likely know more when the sun comes up. they'll be able to get a better handle on what happened. right now, though, we do not see an orange glow of fire here at all. there'
