john rawlins is covering the story in camden for us today. >> reporter: it's a tough one. authorities will tell you that fentanyl is fueling a rapid increase in the number of fatal overdoses nationwide. you think the rational thing would be to stay away from fentanyl, a powerful chemical but as experts say addiction doesn't support rational thinking. >> it started at 10:00 yesterday afternoon in the south camden section of the city we experienced 14 overdoses in a span of four hours. a rapid response meant no fatality. and police arrested alexander valesquez and had 28 more doses for sale. they don't give a location that they used or describe the marks on the fentanyl laced drugs and some will seek them for an apparent higher high. >> we say to people what are do youing here we put out that this was bad and they tell us that it believes there is a higher level of purity. >> fentanyl is less forgiving than heroin and for less is needed for a fatal dose. >> it's far more potent and people don't understand or believe they will overdose on this particular drug and they take th
