katherine scott is live at the scene. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, matt t investigatesors are trying to figure out what happened here. one person has died in this crash. the tow trucks that were here earlier have since driven away but you can still see investigators here on the scene on the eastbound lanes of the schuykill expressway in gray's ferry there are some vehicles from pennsylvania state police. but those eastbound lanes remain closed here. cars are being forced off at exit 346-b, which is the exit for gray's ferry avenue and university avenue. the crash happened just before 3:00 a.m. between a car and a motorcycle. what exactly happened remains under investigation, but the driver of the motorcycle died. and you can see damage to the white acura that did remain on the scene. there was a second motorcycle driving nearby and as you look through this video, that's the one you'll see standing upright as you take a look. airport police on routine patrol this morning spotted the crash. they radio

let's get right over to "action news" reporter katherine scott who is live on that scene. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, today. and the tam. one firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution. there's still a lot of work to do here. fire crews have been on this scene for hours. it's just just a stubborn fire. they have been blasting water at hot spots. there's quite a bit of damage. 11 people have been displaced from nearby apartments. headhouse square is all blocked off with fire equipment and emergency personnel. the flames have been intense and firefighters have been working to prevent the spread to surrounding buildings. the call came in around 1:15 this morning. fire in the basement at the popular restaurant bridget foy's. it's been around since the late 70's. it's on the 200 block of south street. firefighters arrived to heavy smoke in the basement. more than 100 firefighters responded. the restaurant closes at 10:00 p.m. on tuesday and we're told that the restaurant was shut down at the time that the fire was called in. fire crews started

katherine scott is live at the scene with the details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. one person died in this crash. we're still waiting to hear more from investigators about exactly what happened. they're trying to figure out exactly what happened and they still remain on the scene here in the eastbound lanes of 76. you might be able to see them walking along there. and as mark takes a closer look in, you'll be able to see a motorcycle standing up right. that's not the motorcycle involved in the accident. there is a second motorcycle that's on its side that was involved in a crash with a white acura earlier. there was a backlog of traffic behind this crash for more than a hour and a half. those cars started being let by shortly after 4:30 this morning. as for the rest of the traffic the eastbound lanes are closed and cars are being forced off past exit 346b which is the exit for gray's ferry avenue and university avenue. the crash happened just before 3:00 a.m. between a car and a motorcycle. what exactly happen
