skies (pam) tonight.. we are getting a better look at just how widespread the damage is from the north bay firestorm. early estimates put the cost at one- billion dollars... that figure is expected to climb. and tonight, a minor setback in the firefight... crews had hoped to have all the fires contained by tomorrow.. now that timeline is being pushed to next week. here are the latest numbers from the firelines. the tubbs fire which ripped through santa rosa is now 92- percent contained. the atlas fire in solano and napa counties is 86- percent contained. the nuns fire in napa and sonoma counties is 84- percent contained. and the pocket fire is now 80- percent contained. at the height of the fires... more than 100- thousand people were evacuated from the area.(steve) tonight -- about 15-thousand are still being kept away from their homes. just a little while ago a community meeting was held to update residents in santa rosa.... kron4's chalres clifford was there... and joins us live.. charles? this just in.

i'm pam moore.( steve ) and i'm steve aveson. a short time ago we learned the number of homes and buildings destroyed in the fires spiked siginificantly. fire officials say 57-hundred structures have been lost.( pam ) we also learned of two more deaths in the bay area. the napa county sheriff found the bodies of 89- year-old doctor george chaney and 79-year-old edward stone.. they were inside a home on atlas peak road. this brings the number of dead in napa county to four.as we've said.. the latest numbers indicate a total of 35 people have been killed in the fire zone. we are getting an update right now on the fires ... let's go to the sonoma county fairgrounds in santa rosa.
