an outdoor music festival along the las vegas strip. las vegas police department within last hour has confirmed that they do not believe there are any more shooters. what we have learned is at least one shooter is down, and as of now, there are no more shooters. two people are reported dead. 24 more injured. as you can imagine, even though it is a sunday in las vegas, it is still a very festive scene. a lot of concerts, lot of venues, lot of people on the strip. that is a very different scene at this hour according to our reporters on the ground. we have the story covered for you. we want to begin with nbc correspondent steve patterson who's been there throughout the course of this ordeal. steve, why don't you bring us up to speed on what you've seen over the last couple hours since this incident began to unfold. where are you in relation to the reports of the active shooter at the music festival? >> reporter: this is the corner of tropicana and las vegas boulevard. as probably a central location as you can get on the vegas strip. there

there are no explosives around las vegas boulevard, either. still they did have the airport shut down for a short period of time. we understand that some flights now are starting to take off as well. this is the kind of thing that las vegas has drilled for many, many times. unfortunately now it is something that has become a reality for them. as far as the dead, as you mentioned, 100 injured, more than 20 dead. this is because full looked at that video, this is a large outdoor concert venue. there were they said in some cases up to 30,000 people there and so this shooter was up above. they were packed in the if you've been to these outdoor concert venues there's fencing to kind of keep people inside the gated area so it was pretty tough for people to see what was going on, pretty tough for people to get out. we don't know if all of those were due to gunfire. some may have been injured just trying to get out and get to safety. we had some video from our director of production and news operations bill buyer who was on the scene as well. he knew
