nbc news medical correspondent dr. john torres has the details. >> reporter: doctors had hoped new forms of birth control using fewer hormones might be safer, but tonight's study reports they still increase a woman's risk of breast cancer. a study in the "new england journal of medicine" following nearly 2 million women found their breast cancer risk jumped 20%. after ten years that risk grew to 38%. a special concern for women in their 40s says their risk of breast cancer is already greater than a younger woman's. this increase may seem like a lot, but overall the risk of developing breast cancer is still relatively low. obesity raises your odds more than birth control. >> millions of women are on hormonal contraceptives. it just means that each person really needs to look critically at their reasons for taking it. >> reporter: the study also found it's not just pills that increase cancer risk but any contraception that uses hormones including the vaginal ring, certain iuds and the patch. other options for birth contr

nbc 10 news. >>> thank you. a berks county woman is facing charges in the death of her foster son more than two years ago. the charges come after a grand jury investigation into shawna moore. in 2015 moore called an ambulance to her home, saying her son cameron, fell down the stairs. investigators say the boy's injuries couldn't have come from a fall. they say he died after a strike to the head. >>> the district attorney calls a lehigh valley man a sexual predator with victims from bethlehemhonolulu, hawaii. 30-year-old seth mull was charged with sex trafficking and rape. investigators say seth mull met his victims through an online dating site, and convinced them to meet up with him at nearby hotels. that's where prosecutors say he forced them to take drugs before raping them. >> reported that mull had choked her to the point of passing out and raped her. mull also threatened her family and her friends. and threatened to use her in human trafficking. >> police say they are working with departments from philadel

at least three women have come forward to nbc. among them one accuser who alleges she was sexually assaulted in lauer's office in 2001 according to a report in "the new york times." she told the paper she passed out during the incident and woke up on the floor of his office. she says lauer had his assistant take her to a nurse. an nbc spokesperson would not comment on the details citing privacy issues. altogether there may be as many as six accusers. questions have been raised about whether nbc news executives knew of the complaints prior to monday. several former nbc news executives we spoke with today told any complaints. and the network responded saying unequivocally no current management new about any accusation. the string of allegations together with how swiftly matt lauer lost his anchor share have many wondering if this will change tv newsroom culture especially after high profile anchors at cbs news and fox news have also been fired. >> the curtain's being pulled back. >> the curtain is being pulled back. and the question
