porter's first wife colbie holderness also divorced him after years of abuse, including physical violence. holderness has even released pictures of a black eye she says porter gave her. porter calls all of the allegations against him outrageous and simply false. he says the reality behind the pictures is, quote, nowhere close to what is being described, and says, quote, i have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims. holderness told her story to a british newspaper, and both women had previously told their story to the fbi, which was in the process of doing a background check on porter for security clearance. the fbi told senior officials at the white house, including john kelly. multiple sources telling us by last fall, it was widely known, and let me repeat that, widely known among top aides, kelly included, that rob porter was facing trouble getting cleared and his ex-wived had discussed spousal abuse. the white house account of what they knew and when they knew it has changed, to put it mildly. and still, the white house refuses to go into detail of exactly who knee what

colby tells fox news that she shared her story with another woman on the day of january 24th, 2017. that woman is samantha drabis, an attorney with the epa, and tl is a photograph of her there, who was dating porter at the time, in recent weeks, porter broke up with drabis, and began dating hope hicks. while their relationship was a known secret here at the white house, it became public very recently, which is when all of the allegations about porter began to swirl. sources tell fox news that a small group of individuals here at the white house knew about some of the allegations for a period of months, not sure exactly how long, chief of staff, john kelly, was a fierce defender, in a statement released earlier this week. it is a statement actually that hope hicks helped him craft. kelly said, quote, rob porter is a man of true integrity and honor, and i can't say enough good things about him. he is a friend, confidant and trusted pro tegs nfessional. after these photos of colby holderness with the black eye surfaced, kelly released a statement that was different in tone. saying, quo

i talked with colby holderness. she said she spoke with the fbi on january 25, 2017. that would be a little more than a year ago. this was an interview in regard to rob porter's security clearance. he never received his full clearance. he received and interim clearance. these photos on the screen turned the tide of this story. she says that she told the fbi her story providing them with these photos and his second wife, jennifer willoughby talked to the fbi and shared her story. that file at some point last year should have come over here to the white house counsel's office if they were following the protocols in place during the bush administration, and if there were any items in that file that were concerning, they would have been paper clipped and brought to the attention of somebody in the white house counsel's office who was in charge of clearances. that file also could have gone to the chief of staff as well. despite colby holderness's assurances to fox news that that's what happened and she got a black eye at the hands of report porter, the white house was deny

what were colby and jenni telling you on this question? >> what's been so striking on this rob porter fallout is the kin isn inconsistencies between what the white house is saying publicly and what they were told behind the scenes. now the white house is saying so forcibly in public that the president himself, above all else, cares about victims of domestic abuse. this is what we heard sarah sanders saying repeatedly yesterday at the white house press briefing. when i reached out to both colby and jenni, the two ex-wives of rob porter who said they went through years of emotional, physical and verbal abuse, they said they had not heard from a single person at the white house since this story broke. holder said, how it makes me feel is not as important as the message it says to others. reaching out to jenni and me would in some small way provide support for their assertion that they take domestic violence seriously. holder said, i am not surprised, i am disappointed. and i am concerned with how this sets a standard for what is or isn't acce

"the washington post" reports that the white house counsel don mcgahn knew about allegations against porter as early as january of 2017 and wanted him to stay in place. mcgahn made john kelly aware of the reason for the delay in porter's security clearance in the fall and was reportedly contacted by porter's ex-girlfriend regarding abuse. meanwhile, several people familiar with the matter said the inability of jared kushner to receive the security clearance led others to get involved in potential problems like rob porter's. two u.s. officials tell the post they do not expect kushner to receive a permanent security clearance in the new future.
