i'm erin coleman. damage totals more than $1.5 million. the question now, how will the district get all of its kids to school next week? nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is live in south white hall township with the very latest. randy. >> reporter: those 25 bright yellow school buss have been turned into 25 charred black metal skeletons. what you see behind me used to be a building, a garage outside orefield middle school in lehigh county. as you can see the zbrath gone, all that's left are those busses that were inside. some of them also outside the garage, damaged as well. fire officials say the call came in about 3:00 a.m., first reported as smoke then the fire consumed everything in that garage. there were no injuries, but it took firefighters thundershowers get this blaze under control. the school district here, the parkland school district had to cancel classes because those buses are used to transport students. it makes about a fifth the school's entire fleet. the cause is under investigation but it started some where inside that garage. >

good morning to you i'm erin coleman. student activists are using their power to make a point today at cherry hill high school east, but this protest could come with a cost. nbc 10's dray sclark live outside the school with more on the protest and what would happen next. dray. >> reporter: good morning. classes are back in session here at cherry east high school but earlier near lit entire student body walked out at around 8:00 a.m. demanding the district reinstate a history teacher who was recently suspended. that teacher allegedly spoke to his students about safety concerns here at the high school following that massacre in parkland, florida, nearly two weeks ago. school officials were somehow notified of the teacher's comments and he was suspend. all though the district has not disclosed exactly why that happened saying it's a personnel matter which requires confidentiality. now student presented the superintendent with a petition with some 500 signatures asking for the teacher to be immediately reinstated. after a pea

. >> but for now, back to erin coleman at the nbc 10 studios. >> we are following breaking news here at home. the man charged with ambushing and shooting a philadelphia police officer is guilty on all counts. aundrea cline-thomas has been in the courtroom all day she joins us now live. >> we talked to jesse heartnet. he did not know the jury would agree. i watched as the family held hands as the jury read the guilty verdict. video of the ambush was replayed over and over again for that jury. prosecutors even brought a panel of the patrol car riddled with bullets. the jury watched a taped police interview where he pledged his allegiance toist. he received an order to shoot the officer. after two hours of deliberations, they found edward archer guilty on all charges including attempted murder. e he had no expression. he would not cooperate at times with the judge and not even talk to his attorney. >> i tried to have the judge declare him incompetent because he was unable to cooperate. he believes i was trying to brainwash his family. >> i'm trying my best to get back something taken aw
