we may even see some snow showers making their way through the lehigh valley. tonight we are not expecting of in the way of accumulation. we have two systems, the one with all the cold air coming out of midwest. it's been there no several days, and then the one with all the energy. that's coming up the coastline. we're going to watch both of these storm systems meeting up just offshore. like our last big storm on friday. that's where this low is going to intensify and back on it comes -- and everything will quickly turn over to -- that's where we're expecting to see that heavy snow deposited. not so much along the shore. so 8:30 we'll starting to the rain showers move across the area. a bit of mixing for you in the valley and the suburbs. by midnight this changes to snow. still above freezing temperatures. well above freezing from philadelphia down through south jersey, so we have a mix from philadelphia, but we are starting to see snow that could be slushy and sticking to the ground overwright. we get to 3:30 in the morning, look at that snow line edging every

the northeast extension montgomery county and the lehigh valley. and trenton and burlington county and camden county we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain here. flooding on the streets and smaller streams given how saturated the ground is. we look at the rainfall total, inch and a half close to allentown and philadelphia. same for trenton and 3 inches or more in the poconos. over an inch in wilmington and places to the south like millville. and the winter part of the storm we have winter storm warnings in the poconos. carbon and monroe tomorrow morning and through saturday morning a winter weather advisory for parts of the lehigh valley from bethlehem to easton. this is where we expect most of the accumulating snow to really kind of pile up as we get into friday afternoon and friday night. future tracker 6 showing those areas could see anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow in the mountains and as close as allentown and easton and as much as 3 to 6 inches of snow. we'll talk about the wind aspect of the storm and the coastal flooding coming up in the fu

our father got his masters at lehigh. the president's late brother fred was lehigh class of 1960. it was in 1988 that donald trump delivered the commencement address and received an honorary doctor of humane letters. this week, 80% of the faculty voted yes on a motion to rescind the degree on the grounds that the president exhibited behavior quote antithetical to lehigh values. then the school's senate passed its own resolution supporting the faculty 38 to 2 to 1. were i a member of the board of trustees i'm not sure what i would have done. i don't like the idea of allowing an honorary degree to become a political football. i can't defend any of the president's statements contained in the motion and the motion makes a very good point in saying, quote, if a member of the on campus community made one of these statements he or she would be subject to disciplinary action. taken in their entirety he or she would be at risk of dismissal. at the same time, donald trump was elected after saying many of the things contained in the motion. he remains the president, he faces no charges. and

for storm preparations in the lehigh valley. >> the lehigh valley got several inches from the storm on friday and now they could be in for much more. >> that is right. as you mentioned a few days after the coastal storm clobbered our region we are getting ready for another one. this is the penndot salt yard you sigh how the snow from friday's storm is gone but snow emergencies have been declared in municipalities across the lehigh valley in advance of the pending nor'easter and winter storm warning goes into effect at 7:00 and remains in effect until 3:00 a.m. on thursday. we spoke with penndot officials who said if you have plans to take you on the road tomorrow cancel them if at all possible. >> the main thing to help the drivers do their work is for motorists to stay off the road. we had motorists on the road traveling it creates conditions where our plows can't do their jobs it's very important that they are partners on the road and avoid travel if at all possible. >> reporter: thousands of thousands of homes are still without power across the lehigh valley. many will remain withou

it's going to move down closer to the lehigh valley. and as we close a closer look here towards south jersey and the shore, we're still mainly seeing rain. but the big thing as we go through today is we are watching the changeover from rain to wet snow. we'll time that out for you in just a bit. but right we're sending it over to meteorologist steve sosna. he is timing out the neighborhoods for you. >>> there's a lot of information we're trying tro deliver this morning. this is live look at the kimmel center campus camera. you can see wet streets. again, this morning is not terrible. it's really this afternoon and this evening that we're concerned about. it's that changeover to snow. even through philadelphia and south jersey, now that's a range because the storm's intensity will dictate how fast that changeover happens. so that's still a variable at this moment. damaging winds that's a slam dunk. that begins midday and happens this evening through early saturday morning. and then some blinding snow potential there for the evening commu

parts of the lehigh valley heavy rain. this is the leading edge of the system that will evolve into a nor'easter. that will bring us intense wind gusts and colder air to follow changing the rain to snow. pocono, 39. delaware valley mid to upper 40s with easterly winds, winds out of the northeast and northwest as the system evolves. satellite and radar, if you look at the streamlines, the little arrows, you can see right there, that's the first low. that's the parent low. now if you look here, you can see the coastal low beginning to form. when that takes over, it taps into tremendously strong winds and pulls down cold air. tomorrow morning, 7:00, cold air taking the lehigh valley and the poapoconos where we see the chae over, philadelphia with dry slotting. a low in the action. it doesn't last long. by lunchtime precipitation is back and changing to snow in south jersey. the evening commute, we are dealing with snow falling, high winds reduced visibility. the system moves out of here by 9:00. philadelphia, south jersey, no

it starts up here in the lehigh valley, the poconos. you can see the darker shades of purple and all that activity is moving from north to south. it's not clearing the area. it's basically stationary and we're going to continue to be pound bid high winds and the snow blowing sideways. some of the snow part-timing up on grassy areas make iing for sh on the roadways, up into the poconos, as much as 19 inches of snow have fallen in some places. we're not expecting that in our area however. where you see the pink and especially these blues. and these greens. so you can see, it's pretty much the same area being hit again and again, which is why we're having a lot of trouble in montgomery county through philadelphia down into south jersey. upper ridley, chester, that's what we're seeing. some of this heavy snow. wo woolrich, logan, piles grove. down to cedarville, upper deerfield. we have another band that's been setting up. down through allentown. but especially east whiteland, westchester. right down through north star, wilmington, newark,

a messy commute for those in the suburbs and lehigh valley. between 1:00 and 2:00, it converts to all snow. could be in some places 1-2 inches of snow coming down an hour, wet heavy snow. out of here about midnight and in its wake it leaves shoveling snow. let's look at your neighborhoods. first in south jersey. this is what will happen, walk you through 5:00 tuesday evening through 1:30 in the morning. you are looking at flurries flying, we could see south harriston, 1-5 inches. not too much, by newark, wilmington we will see perhaps 3, maybe 4 inches. dover, you could pick up a quick 2 inches of snow. let's go right into philadelphia the lower suburbs. this is what will happen. watch what happens. we start with mixing and wednesday, in the afternoon, here comes that snow very quickly. toes see we could get 1-4 inches in the lower pennsylvania suburbs, 3-6 inches, finally the upper pennsylvania suburbs and lehigh valley, not pretty in some place, ten inches of snow or more. allentown, blue bell, perhaps 12 inches of snow, redding maybe a half

we see it's snow in the lehigh valley right on the border of that with philadelphia. and mostly rain south and east. and then tomorrow morning here's a look at 7 o'clock during your morning commute. we still have rain south and east of the city. kind of a mix along the i-95 corridor with snow continuing in the northwest suburbs, lehigh valley and the poconos. so, that's 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. you might wake up and think, oh, well, i can drive through this maybe depending on where you are but the trouble is it really gets worse after that. we watch kind of like with the last storm, right, as it's pulling away you get that thump of snow with heavy wet snow coming down producing its own cold air and it's starts to accumulate on the roads even as temperatures are above freezing so you really have to be careful. this is a look at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. it's been snowing all along in the poconos, northwest suburbs but now snow in philadelphia and parts of south jersey as well. doesn't pull out until thursday night, wednesday night, excuse me. mixing up my days her

walter perez is in the lehigh valley. first meteorologist cecily tynan. cecily it seems almost unfair that as soon as we recover from one nor'easter, another one is expected to come our way. >> you're exactly right. well, what we really need is a full week of quiet weather. that's not going to happen. as you look at double scan live you can see the next storm system waiting in the wings. low pressure across the northern plain straits bringing blizzard conditions up there and this like friday's storm will transfer its low to a coastal storm. it will evolve a little bit differently but we're looking at the potential for some high snow amounts. so, winter storm watch has been posted for basically the i-95 corridor all areas north and west. this is where we could get some very high heavy accumulating snow during the day on wednesday. so future tracker showing as the system evolves wednesday morning that low pressure across the ohio valley starts transfer that low pressure off the carolina coast. it starts the precipitation pretty light. even a mixing. i think
