matt pellman is standing by with road conditions and how they are preparing for the storm. >> lets check in with cecily tynan and adam joseph with the late of on what we can expect tonight and tomorrow. >> hey i tell you this is a powerful storm and long duration storm with a lot of different elements. >> rain at first and then the winds kick up and then snow. and then the coastal flooding as well. so much to go over here. just getting cranked up now and go to the weather center and double scan live radar showing one low. it's moving into the ohio valley and already seeing that wrap around cold air bringing snow north of detroit and now a coastal low is starting to form near cape hatteras. and when that storms the storm system intensifies and that brings us the heaviest precipitation and the highest winds and the change over to snow. this is what it looks like now. the primary low and coastal low, as we head through the overnight hours, the transfer of energy occurs and notice the isobars it tightens up and increases as the storm system intensifies and rain and a lull actually. light rai

matt pellman watching conditions on the roadways. but we begin with adam joseph tracking the storm all day. >> that storm is moving out right now toward long beach island all the way up into new england dealing with rain southeast new england at boston and cape cod where it changes to snow there in connecticut and vermont and rhode island. still dealing with snow in our immediate eastern and northern suburbs.right along long beach you see the bright purple pushing across old barney there at the lighthouse and tip long beach island to surf city. improvement after the blast of blinding snow that came through rates of 2 to 3 inches an hour. and light snow warren grove to the west. shutting off from the west to the east. but the weight of the snow as expected doing damage on power lines and on trees in the torresdale section of the city. kathleen said there is a large limb that snapped off the tree and power lines wedged underneath the tree and folks losing their power and be cautious from you out and around and trees can still come down

. >> matt pellman has a look at traffic. coming to work this morning i saw trees down and streetlights that are not on. rough. >> reporter: we're trying to recover, the crews worked hard throughout the weekend to get the trees turned into sawdust, but there was a lot of work to do. cruel find a lot of local roads blocked off this morning. first, the highways like 309 not too far away from ambler, things are looking fine heading toward the pennsylvania turnpike. roads are dry and all the highways are open at this point. credit the secondary roads where you have blockages in towamincin township. orvilla road is closed because of downed wires stay on 40-foot aroundph's corner. route 1, pennsylvania turnpike, passable. once you get on the secondary roads, like mannor road blocked off because of downed wireless. i-95 and 495 have no issues. creek road, centerville road and car road are blocked because of downed trees. we have a fire location in wilmington, 28th and jefferson. newark a bunch of traffic lights not working, one inte

lets check in with matt pellman. >> we are slipping and sliding all afternoon and got so bad along woodhaven road they threw in the towel and closed it down. eastbound traffic gets by but you have to exit at route 13. crews are out plowing and salting but woodhaven partially blocked off because of the earlier iciness and stuck vehicles. here comes a plow train now. 95 nearby a vehicle that ran off the roadway and stuck in the snowy ditch. you see the lanes while passable are still very slushy and still very slick. similar situation on 95 in delco a vehicle off the roadway and they have it cleared out and lanes open toward delaware. and a live look at the schuylkill expressway a vehicle off to the side here but earlier we had triple digit travel times on the westbound schuylkill, so we'll take the 18 minutes we see now. slowly but surely it's getting better out there this evening. >>> "action news" reporter christie aleto is staked out in south jersey in pennsauken. what is the latest there? >> reporter: the snow stopped an hour agop the roads are passable and you are looking at asphalt. but

matt pellman snows what he wants to tell us. >> you have your part down today. >> there are things to so in options the traffic is far from a fairytale. thorns between the roses as you try to head home on this tuesday evening. live look at king of prussia. this is the schuylkill expressway here on the highway it's dry and just volume we are watching especially on the eastbound side coming away from 202. but again you get off the highways and there is problems. by the chilis a crash at gulf road and that cleared out and one on german town pike at 202 dekalb pike. and a broke ebb down vehicle on the northbound side of the northeast extension, that is off to the side now. things are getting back up to pace there with speeds like 70 miles per hour. and we'll take it. nd 2tween 3rd and and the downed pole because of the crash earlier in northeast philadelphia blocking the westbound side of woodhaven road and 263 is open. and you can use that for your travels instead. on the big picture a bunch of big issues and lincoln drive northbound at johnson and downed tree. and traffic lights not wor

matt pellman with a friendly update. >> if only mother nature could extend the kindness and she is brutal the last few days and continues this afternoon. what a difference about 20 minutes makes. check out the schuylkill, the travel lanes by conshohocken parked for hours because of several stalled stuck vehicles up ahead around gulph mills and getting them pushed to the side and starting to move from gladwyne on out. it looks substantially better and this is port richmond from the betsy ross bridge, this is woodhaven road close to 13 bristol pike and the westbound lanes are blocked because of this car facing sideways. and we had route 1 blocks on the southbound side 213 maple avenue and traffic is just starting to move there. and route 1 mostly snow covered and the ben franklin is not. it's slushy but can you get by on the ben or go with the betsy, don't try to head to the burlington bristol bridge. that is closed conditions are not good whatsoever. and they closed down it's bridge entirely. and the others at this point they have speed restrictions don't look too bad. live look at 42 and
