is it correct to say that the u.s., the west, looks at it as zero nukes in north korea, but north korea looks at it as more of a freeze, to lock in where they are and go no further? >> there are two questions and it's the big one. one is what's the definition of denuclearization? getting rid of all existing nuclear weapons. the capacity to make weapons. getting rid of all nuclear materials? the question is simply, how far does it go. the other bigger question to me is, what would north korea ask in exchange. we're willing to get rid of all of our nuclear weapons but only if you end the alliance with south korea or do something else about your own nuclear weapons program. denuclearization, first of all, is incredibly vague. and, two, it's conditional. and we have to find out what those conditions are. >> do you believe the u.s. should be open to allowing north korea to maintain some nuclear program if they get other assurances? >> again, it depends to me on what we would get for it. what would they do about their missiles? what would they do about their testing? what would they do about

both sides north korea has talked about denuclearization south korea has talked about the north need to denuclearize and the united states has talked about the north need to denuclearize when each of those three players talks about denuclearization are they talking about the same thing i'm afraid not and i think that all the braid talks happening at the moment between the secret services from north korea and the u.s. and also in various generals into korean relations they were. we'll have to sort these differences out so when north korea talks about denuclearization what does it mean they don't talk about giving and getting rid of all the nuclear weapons necessary maybe to keep small stockpile of nuclear weapons for symbolic reasons as well but also for a kind of security insurance for themselves because ultimately for the north koreans this is a matter of national survival so they will not give up this brokerages this is what i thought i couldn't understand about this what why would north korea give up its biggest bargaining chip that the chip that has brought the world to the table
