the money is on brent kavanaugh. the president plans to announce at 6:00 p.m. our time, prime time back in the east and he did announcing neil gorsuch here last year. whoever he picks, the nominee goes before a senate committee where there will be hearings and then pass on its recommendation to the full senate which will vote. now, the rules have change recently. the republicans changed them. 50 senators have to vote yes to approve the nominee. they have 51 senators on the republican side but.. several o expressed uncertainty that they would vote yes. notably susan collins, republican and pro-life. she said she would not approve somebody who might reverse roe v. wade. all right.di so that leaves you with 50 votes maybe on the republican side. there are several democrats, though, who may indeed vote yes. they're in red states. obviously, depends on who the president picks. they're in red states with very exposed seats and they have to decide is it better to, you know, go against the constituency on the justice, lose my seat and then maybe not flip the house? or

matt, you know brent and you know justice kennedy. what are your thoughts after watching this all unfold? >> i think it's a great night for justice kennedy. he's got to be immensely proud that his law clerk has been nominated to the courts. it will be his second law clerk on the court if judge kavanaugh is confirmed because of course judge justice gorsuch also clerked for justice kennedy. there is a 12 year record of 300 decisions by judge kavanaugh that show that he is a principal conservatives who believes in judicial restraint and believes that he's not the 101st senator or some of her legislator. instead he is there to interpret the law. president trump had four great candidates. i think any one them would made out of a terrific nominee and people had their favorites. i think people will rally around, all conservatives will rally around judge kavanaugh because he really is a principled conservative we can count on. >> laura: accept the protesters. chris, that is your party. they had all their preprinted signs. you had the naral pe

>> i will be there. >> as supreme court nominee, brent cavanaugh, even casual talk about baseball was a loaded topic after "the washington post" found he had credit card debt to buy tickets for friends. a more charged issue, a more bright right-leaning court overturn roe vs. wade? if agreed, would remove productions for abortion rights and funding. another ballot measure would amend alabama's constitution to give rights to a fetus. indiana will soon decide to challenge court decisions that a state cannot ban abortions of a down syndrome child. ohio has a similar band which is also being challenged. separate court appeals are now being considered whether it states can for him at a second trimester abortions. the aclu has already challenged a similar kentucky band. it's cases like these that have pro-choice advocates more worried than at any time since the 1973 roe v. wade decision. >> the backpedaling now is personally because they know what we know, which is that most american people, regardless of how they feel personally about abortion, believe that legal access is core to a country
