i will start with budget as i usually do. over the last month, we have expended about $15.6 million. we are just north of $2 billion both in committed and expenditures. the eac remains steady as we have been carrying. for the most part, the anticipated issues are incorporated in the e.a.c. for construction. the drawdown in terms of contingency, we are at -- we have a remaining balance for $6 million for construction contingency as well as 16.34 that see ngc contingency. i feel like we are in the shallows a little bit but we are almost done and we will navigate through the issues towards closeout. that is also leaving a program reserve of 83.3 million dollars. relatively comfortable with that. and we -- moving onto the all-important schedule, where are we with schedule? we have had a number of milestones go by and met, for the most part. i think the question at the forefront, again, is did we meet the most recent milestone? that is substantial completion on july 9th. again, the answer is yes, and no. we are working through som

this is an issue that i will return to in the coming weeks and months at greater length, but i did want to say a few words about why i am in opposition to mr. kavanaugh. i think many americans have a pretty good sense of what the function of congress is, what the president of the united states does. but, in fact, i think many americans do not fully appreciate the role thatap the supreme court place in our lives. in the past decade alone, the supreme court has issued some incredibly controversy all, and to my mind, disastrous decisions that have had a profound impact on the lives of the american people. let me just read you for a momentnt why this nomination iso very important. in looking at what the supreme court, often via 5-4 vote, a one-vote majority, has done in recent years. mr. president, if you go out onto the streets of i think any community in the united states of america, whether it is a conservative area or a progressive area, what most people will tell you is that we have a corrupt campaign-finance system. a system which today as we speak allows billionaires to spend hundred

i will make a nomination today, but i will not comment on this issue. but after supervisor peskin made his statement, i think it is extraordinary that we've never had a case in which the mayor elect does get to participate in the voting process for the head of another branch of government. that is what it is in today's vote. i want to take this opportunity to nominate a colleague of mine who i came in in the class of 2010. we have spent eight years, close to eight years working together. i really have to say it. we have both grown so much on this board. in fact, we really spent our doubt -- adult life serving on the board of supervisors together. we are the same age and we went through many of the challenges that occur when you join an elected office that can be, at many times, unpredictable, challenging, and rambunctious. sometimes a little mean but also incredible. incredibly great. i have really enjoyed watching supervisor melia :-colon develop and grow as a public servant, and as an elected leader over the past eight years. it has my pleasure to ser

i will have that caveat. it is true that algorithmic trading activity is significantly in commodity markets and modesty derivative market since 2008. as in many other financial markets. i think the behavior of this type of trader, the implications of this type of market participation certainly merit further research. i think it has been limited to date in part by limited data transparency. i'm not aware of studies on the -- i have heard market participants adjust as you that algorithmic trading may lead to sharper commodity price swings. and volatility. there was a research note from citigroup a week or two ago noting that some of the recent sharp selloffs included the week before stemmed in part by some element of machine trading. i will note it is important to recognize that even if algorithmic trading leads to greater very short-term price swings in traded benchmark crude prices, my colleagues may have of you on this but that doesn't necessarily mean the price moves upset the price of physical barriers pai

[cheers and applause] to the generations of? or artists that have been fostered by? or cultural centre and just honoured, steered with a loving hand by pam tennyson, from aria, founder of the queer culture initiative that is promoting cultural equity for trans women of colour, through social empowerment and cultural enrichment, to the work that community grand marshal really criticized on to develop safe spaces for lgbtq students, faculty, employees -- and employees at ucb berkeley, i could go on and on and on about the grand marshals and awardees. they have contributed over 30 years to the lgbtq community. they have litigated and continue to fight for our community through the court system. putting out lgbtq queer and nonconforming images, and visibility, voices out there. john haines, who many

i will say though that one of the areas, one of -- incoming and, i will say this district is different than any other districts that i've worked in. in the fact that one of the things we have as a district is a three year contract. that is different than any other districts that i've been in. every other place i've been in, administrators are year to year at work to the pleasure of the superintendent. we have a duty to work with people to grow them, but there's also an understanding that we have a contract process. >> i appreciate that. you know, so, kevin from coleman mentioned what this says to black families about whether or not you should be coming to the district versus going to a charter school. i think the thing that they mention is we actually had no idea how often chargers do this. it is off the charts. i think that the severity of the issue requires that we take a zero-tolerance approach, and educational leaders that are constantly suspending students, that we have to -- [applause] that is how we hold people accountable. i understand that we have to be considerate of all the

[applause] for the small business owner who is struggling and feels that they're being squeezed out by big development on one side and city government fees on another, i want them to know that i will be their mayor too. [applause] for folks who feel that the quality of life has changed for them in san francisco. our middle-class families who continue to struggle to survive in san francisco, many who are part of our labor movement and community, i want you to know that i will fight for you and i will be your mayor too.
