geoff, let's start with jim jordan here. this is a six-term republican congressman. he's one of the most conservative in the entire senate conference -- excuse me, the congressional conference among republican members of the house. so what if kevin mccarthy looks like a likely person to replace paul ryan. what is jim jordan in particular trying to do here in terms of leverage? >> well, here's the thing. kevin mccarthy is certainly a friend of president trump's, peter, but he's viewed as being suspect by at least some -- certain members of the far right conservative wing, of which jim jordan is a part. so jim jordan's run really is the latest play by conservative members of congress here to really push for more leeway should republicans keep control of the house come november. now, we're not entirely sure that will happen yet, but jordan's run really gives members of the conservative freedom caucus more room to push for committee positions and leadership roles. percolating in the background is this scandal, this controversy that when he was an assistant wrestling coac
