i'm stephanie ruhle. today an important day, marking the court ordered deadline to reunite the remaining migrant children separated from parents at the border. but hundreds of the kids remain in limbo. . jacob is here with the latest. walk us through the deadline and what it means. >> it's funny math. you know the court said the trump administration had to reunite the children with parents. there is 2551. but they are only reuniting the children they say are eligible. 1637. they say 917 of the parapets from the kids are completely categorically ineligible. >> why? when i just read they are ineligible. why? >> any say they have criminal convictions. but some might be small. and maybe a large number may have valid asylum claims yet. and they might be able to with the help of a judge -- a jen and the aclu or lawyer-like that plead the i lump case and stay in the united states. it gets worse. 463 of them are already gone potentially from the country. that's sort. >> the parents? >> yes that's the high number

i am stephanie ruhl. you are watching msnbc, and after the summit this morning in helsinki between president trump and president vladimir putin we are hearing from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. just moments ago speaker paul ryan put out a statement, quote, there is no question that russia interfered in our election and continues attempts to undermine democracy here and around the world. this is not just the finding of the american intelligence community, but also the house committee on intelligence. the president must appreciate that russia is not our ally. this is no -- there is no moral equivalence between the united states and russia, which remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals. the united states must be focused on holding russia accountable and putting an end to its vial attacks on our democracy. here is the thing. paul ryan says the president must appreciate that russia is not our ally. well, paul ryan, what if he doesn't? this morning he made it quite clear he doesn't share tho
