christie coleman's remarks were remarkable and the work that she has been doing in richmond on behalf of the monuments commission there has been daunting and it was a very interesting to have her come and talk to us about everything she has been doing. john koski is a wealth of knowledge on many topics. if you ever get the chance to have lunch with him, i am sure he would wow you. if there is anybody that knows anything more about the confederate battle flag, i do not know who would be an thank you so much for being with us. it has been a wonderful day and it begs the question, why would the shenandoah valley battlefields foundation host this event? there are other battlefield preservation organizations, national and local organizations that are doing everything they can to run away from this issue. if they are not running away from the issue, they are at least doing everything they can to keep their heads down and keep themselves out of view, lest they become part of the public furor. a good friend of mine, bill brown, who is with us today, came up to me before the event and gave me

i'm not sure christy coleman is here yet. i will just hold this. but i want to commend her and her committee for their recommendations with the richmond monument avenue thing. i was on cbs sunday morning in october of last year and i said the same thing, that if one of those memorials has to come down it should be the centerpiece, the confederate state memorial of robert e lee. let me explain before you start frothing at the mouth. for once look at the confederate states of america for what it was, a giant evolutionary stage in the building of the greatest nation planet earth will ever know. view it as a stepping stone, a vital imperative stepping stone toward modern day. so on the monument itself i think when you find the alternative for what you're going to put in place of it, let it be something like from the confederate states or from the southern effort came our present united states. and now they're arguing over who is going to replace jefferson davis. davis was a great man who achieved greatness before the civil war in the senate and mexican
