doug luzader joins us now from the nation's capitol. what can you tell us about a possible government shutdown because of this border crisis? >> reporter: every once in a while this immigration issue really percolates to the top of things here in washington and that's how it is right now as far as the president is concerned he is once again talking about building a boarder wall. he wants $5 billion in the next spending bill to get that the p runs out of money on december 7 going into december 8 we have the potential for a shutdown. if the president pushes for this boarder wall funding and democrats dig in their heels, that is a recipe for a potential shutdown as early as a week and a half from now. >> and this is so much bigger than the caravan. if he's talking about shutting down commerce. that's affecting companies and shutting down the border crossing. that's affecting people who travel between the countries. how will this play out? >> reporter: that's the big question and we've seen, already, a partial shutdown or temporary shutdown
