marriott bought their starwood hotels in 2016 this said november 19, marriott noticed that hackers had gain access to guest personal information via the reservation system for starwood. for 327 million guests, the breaches more severe because the information stolen includes a combination of things like phone numbers, email addresses, passport numbers and dates of birth. that's going back to 2014. in a statement the marriott ceo said we fell short of what our guest deserve and what we expected ourselves. we are doing everything we can to support our guests and using lessons learned to be better moving forward. marriott has also set up an informational website for guest and a call center to field questions and concerns for we will have a link to that website on our website for more information available in the web links section. this will have a big impact on marriott they have about 5700 properties worldwide and in 110 different countries this will impact their reputation but also their stock price. stock plunged about 6% in premarket trading we will keep an eye on that throughout the m

( darya ) in the east bay... several streets in east oakland were shutdown overnight because of a shooting that involved police. it started with a police chase in vallejo that ended with a crash in oakland. police the driver opened fire within the city limits of oakland and some point after that officers fired back. officials say the driver had on body armor along with various weapons in the car.

massive data breach at marriott starwood. pete suratos is live for us from the marriott in san francisco, and pete, this is going to be a bad news for a lot of the starwood rewards members. >> reporter: yes, good morning to you, marcus. it looks like there's hundreds of millions that are affected about i this. if you are a member of the sta a rwood reservation database including the marriott in san francisco. i went on the marriott website, the data breach may have began as early as 2014, but let's tell you guys what we know at this hour. up to 500 million people may have been affected by this, talking about guests across the starwood hotels, talking about guests at marriott, sheraton, the st. regis or any of the w. properties with the starwood hotels. marriott said they were alerted back in september, saying the breach was into the starwood guest reservation database. of the 500 million, about 327 million of those guests, when it comes to the breach, it may have included their name, mailing address and even their passport nu
