i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm anne makovec. mary is here with a look at our weather and a little bit of a break in the rain. but boy, that clear air, how much do we love this? >> oh, my goodness. just being able to go outside and breathe it all in that fresh air for sure. so a lot to be thankful for on this thanksgiving as we are looking at catching a bit of a break. a few showers this morning. dry conditions for most of the day for our thanksgiving. and then our second round of rain arrives. hi-def doppler zooming in here, some spotty showers lingering on hi-def doppler this morning from walnut creek down through 680, san ramon there, dublin right over you and then near livermore. you can see some enheadfael, riover 101, you can see a cell just popping up. and then as we put this into motion, you can see most of this is continuing to push off to the east. just a few showers out offshore. so we are going to see a few lingering showers as we head through the rest of the morning. and then catching a bit of a break for our thanksg

i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm kenny choi. it's abo the rain this morning is expected to make a messy commute. and an even slicker one later tonight as we take a live look outside at the richmond/san rafael bridge. you can see the roads are wet. and we are seeing some damage already from the first of several storms two storms. a 30-foot tree collapsed in noe valley landing on cars about 9 p.m. >> this is not the worst of it. >> that's right. we are tracking showers in spots this morning. but our second more powerful storm that arrives late tonight into tomorrow morning. so we are tracking that stronger system that will bring heavy rain strong winds and could see an isolated thunderstorm. i'll show that you coming up. but hi-def doppler is going. showers popping up this morning. let's take out to the areas you can see:

i'm michelle griego. >> and good morning. i'm kenny choi. >>> smoke from the "camp fire" is blanketing the bay area. the air quality is worse than anyplace on earth right now, according to one study. >> let's look outside now. it is still dark so it's hard to see that haze but you can kind of see it looking at coit tower and i think it's real fitting that we're looking at coit tower this morning because this is a memorial that was built for volunteer firefighters in san francisco. and, of course, we have fires burning both ends of the state. so here we go though with another day and today is going to be the worst day yet when it ai nftutely. we are starting off the day very bad. so even worse compared to yesterday with unhealthy to very unhealthy air. the smoke trapped in the bay area. and then this light offshore winds bringing more smoke that just means the problem is compounded, unfortunately. so with air quality forecast here unhealthy to very unhealthy air, how bad is it this morning? well, check out these aqi values. sa

i'm michelle griego. >> good morning. i'm kenny choi. it is 6:00. let's take a live look outside right now. the air is especially bad right now as smoke from the wildfire in butte county blankets the bay area in a hazardous haze. today marks the 8th straight day of unhealthy air quality. >> and this is what the air quality looked like around the bay yesterday. right now, the air across much of the bay area is in the very unhealthy range. so be careful out there. >> boy, here we go again. you know, we were hoping that for the weekend it would get better and now that's not the case at all. i wish i had some better news for you. we are still dealing with unhealthy air and very unhealthy air as well in some locations, especially in livermore. you have an aqi value this morning of 215. anything above 200, that's very unhealthy air. san francisco 167. san jose 178. santa rosa below 100 at 97 for an aqi value. it's bad for us. but in butte county it's very bad an aqi value over 300. they are dealing with losing homes and loved ones and dangerous hazardous

i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm kenny choi. we are continuing to follow the latest developments in butte county where tens of thousands of people have already been forced out of their homes as the "camp fire" rages out of control. we won't know the full extent for some time but we know that thousands of structures have been destroyed and there are multiple deaths there. the fire has scorched about 20,000 acres so far since it broke out yesterday morning. and as a result, air quality is going to be a big problem in the bay area today. >> you can smell it in the air. >> yes. >> you would think it's just right down the street and it's not. that's what everyone is saying. just so bad and so thick with that smoke. >>> actually, just checking the air quality for us compared to beijing, china, and we worse than beijing, china. to show you how bad it is. the air quality unhealthy for the bay area here. we are looking at smoky hazy conditions. the air quality advisory is
