san jose at 5:56 this evening. where do we go from here? i think through tomorrow morning we get a chance of rain but check this out. the best chance of wet weather would be right here in the south bay. that doesn't happen very often but the south bay looks like that during the commute. a possibility of some drops for the east bay, san francisco and the north bay. let's get a closer look at how things will move in and you'll understand how the south bay had a better shot. it's a stream of moisture coming in from the south and that's why san jose, morgan hill and gilroy will have a chance through 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. again, rainfall for san jose but you're dry up into the north bay. it's that reverse from what w typically see. through 9:30 in the morning it's in the south bay with the best possibility and we're holding on to a few spotty showers as we hit the afternoon hours on wednesday. you can see where we're going. it's not a big storm system and the south bay would be the best chance. my estimated rain forecast looks a lot different. che

we're not off to a very cold start. 57 degrees in san jose. 57 in hayward. 56 in san francisco. i'll give you a quick overview of when that second storm system is expected to make it's way in but let's get a check of the roads because there is still that concern over these slick road conditions. you can see, i've overlaid the radar on our traffic maps. that's the screen you spot here. these are areas that might be catching a couple showers here or there, which means wet roadways. i did notice this accident pop up in the south bay. be mindful if you're traveling through any sidewalks, we are seeing a couple cautionary roadways that might be backed up in terms of those storm drains. again, we have an incoming storm system tonight. of course, you have to be very careful. this is what a thanksgiving bay bridge toll plaza looks like this morning. >> new this morning, a local nightclub where shots rang out, prompting an evacuation. police were at saddle rack bar. people were afraid there was an active shooter. that was not the case. one person was found dead in the parking lot. office

san jose currently 59 and foggy. it's foggy obviously at our salesforce tower camera, 60 degrees in san francisco, 61 in concord. plan on fog tomorrow morning. once we begin to clear things out, we'll have foggy conditions a couple hours vallejo, redwood city and fremont all around 52 degrees. the active pattern we've had for the past three days temporarily will leave. all indications are it's coming back next week perhaps for the next two weeks, but for a few days, the weekend, maybe putting up some christmas or holiday lights, you will get good weather because this ridge of high pressure will temporarily help send the storm track to the north, but there are other storms coming and the storm track will return toward the middle of next week. time it out on futurecast, showers gone likely earlier than 9:00, but we stopped it here showing clouds in the morning, some sunshine in the afternoon, partly sunny skies tomorrow. on sunday an earlier start to the sunshine and should be mainly sunny and milder by the afternoon.

in san jose, kpix5. >> sky drone 5 flew over san jose earlier today. you can just see the layer of smoke in every direction that you look. paul, it is not expected to change any time soon. >> the interesting thing is the smoke wants to clear through the bay area. it is not because it is trapped. the ways out are blocked. the fire burning to the north and east. just like fog going in through the delta and the strait, the smoke is trying to exit. it can't. let's talk about the exit routes for the smoke and it is blocked. going through, down the bay. trapped by the mountains, keeping all of the smoke there. that is a bowl as well, surrounded by higher elevations and hills. the smoke is the easiest way out is the easiest way in for the fog during the summertime through the golden gate. one problem, the wind, off shore, it is an onshore flow. that smoke is blocked by the sea breeze. all of the smoke is backing up over the bay area. we are stuck with it until a big wind from the west kicks it all out. that will not happen any time soon. the air quality right

san francisco 55. san jose 58. and santa rosa 54. so temperatures are a little warmer compared to what we have seen over the last several days. so much-needed rainfall and better air quality. we are continuing to see better air quality as we go through the day. our second system arrives with more rain for friday. butte county "camp fire" would have flooding and debris flows. this is the first rainfall in seven weeks. it's been a long time. we have an area of low pressure that's going to swing a cold front our way and then behind that, we have a second weather system that will bring the rain. let's check it out. rain in the morning and then stopping the clock again at 2 p.m. there. we could see heavy downpours indicating that could possibly see an isolated thunderstorm. behind the front looking at scattered showers for this evening and then through tomorrow morning, lingering showers, but most of thanksgiving mainly dry. we could see 1.5" for the north bay for the santa cruz mountains as well up to an inch in the east bay and peninsul

san jose begins to fall into a rain shadow 7:00 a.m. friday, but tomorrow morning we'll have a pretty wet commute. especially for the north bay. if you notice, it kind of lingers around all day friday. then we get a couple of showers into early saturday morning. estimated rain totals right now still tracking upwards of 2 inches through the north bay down through oakland just over an inch and down through palo alto over half an inch through there. but there is a wind advisory in effect at 4:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. friday in the north bay mountains because of strong, gusty conditions that will come with this second round of storms. we're talking potentially upwards of 30 miles an hour. there is a flash flood watch for the fire burn scars in chico and paradise area. we're talking into thursday and friday now. potentially seeing upwards of, look at this number go up, over 6 inches of rain for paradise. that brings a concern for debris flow, unfortunately mudslides for all of those burn scars. here's a look at your next seven days in san fra

san francisco 57. san jose 59. santa rosa 53. so let's talk about the visibility and the dense fog about a mile and a quarter in half moon bay. 2.5 miles for concord. down to a half mile in napa and a quarter mile in santa rosa. so some dense fog once again across the north bay. scattered showers this morning again in between storms today. but with that residual moisture behind yesterday's front, we're still talking about some lingering showers but then that second storm with the heavy rain and strong winds that will arrive late tonight into tomorrow morning. so this is that second stronger storm system again that arrives late tonight into tomorrow. we're time it out for you on futurecast taking you hour by hour. stopping the clock at 8 a.m. you can see showers especially san francisco south and then as we go through the afternoon most of us getting a break but you can still see some isolated showers line lighting up the futurecast radar screen. tonight at 7 p.m., the orange and red colors indicating we could see some heavy rain.

. >> we begin our coverage tonight with abc news reporter katie utehs live in san jose. >> reporter: on sunday morning there were people lined up waiting to get in when the office opened at 9:00 and stayed consistently busy throughout the day, people dropping off ballots and registering to vote and ballots being sorted that have been mailed in. the santa clara county registrar of voters brings in an additional 300 to 400 people to help with elections, it's so busy. this afternoon stayed hectic. elections officials say they're seeing a lot of first-time voters and new citizens participating so that's exciting for them. there's certainly an exciting feeling to the place from people dropping off their ballots to the county workers that are hustling. traditionally midterms have lower turnouts, but this year is shaping up to be different. voters we spoke with like the convenience of early voting, including same-day registration and on-demand ballot printing. the weekend availability is key for many. >> if i don't have to rush over here after work or before work, i'm trying to avoid that.

you can see it blowing down through the santa rosa area down through san francisco and san jose. so there's still significant smoke lingering and trapped over the bay area and as we enter over the next seven days, i know you're wondering when are we getting some relief. i got a picture of the incoming system we're tracking as we head in to wednesday. we got the system just off the pacific and now it looks like those models are lining up a lot better to get a good amount of significant rainfall just in time for thanksgiving, but really the entire bay area even down through san jose and that rain could linger into wednesday, thursday and friday and possibly even portions of the weekend for the north bay as well into november 25th. now as far as rain totals, this is always a concern when we're dealing with burn scars because of the potential for flash flooding as the debris flow kicks in. we have to monitor this closely. this is great news in terms of rain but that presents other issues. the estimated rain totals right now upwards of two inches, according to the euro model. we'll ke
