for georgia, and why she wants stacey abrams to win the race. but it was also classic oprah. so, they sat down in plush arm chairs and just kind of had a one on one conversation. they talked about stacey abrams and her personal life and her family and her story. and so i think it was that two-prong approach. so, it wasn't just oprah on the campaign trail, kind of the way that vice-president pence and brian kemp have kind of said, you know, we don't need people coming from here just to say who to vote for. but it was also like that one on one oprah interview that she's known for. >> a.b., in your opinion, does this kind of thing get votes? >> i think that what she did was so counter intuitive, just injecting this positivity into the campaign, saying this is about discernment. we're going to turn our backs away from fear. this is about the privilege of voting, the power of voting. we're all the same at the ballot box, all of us. we live in the best country on earth. we get to do this. just absolutely the opposite of what everyone would expect. obv

get out and vote for stacey abrams. this is an important message in this stage of the game because the polls have these two candidates just one point apart. this is literally a dead heat in georgia, which in this deep red state, doesn't happen all the time in the governor's races. so, people are energized and they are fired up and they are early voting. we are seeing record numbers of early voting in georgia. astronomical numbers, in fact. up 140% from where it was in the midterms in 2014, just to give you an idea. that is over 1.5 million early votes already in in the state of georgia. that just gives you an idea of how high these stakes are and how close this race is. oprah calling on both to take this responsibility seriously and to get out and vote. she wanted to stress to people today, though, that no one paid her to be here. she took an interest in stacey abrams and came here because she wanted to support her. >> i am a registered independent. because i don't want any party and i don't want any kind of partisan in

oprah winfrey campaigning for stacey abrams. president obama also campaigning for stacey abrams and president trump is coming in tomorrow night, sunday night, to campaign with brian kemp. i was out there at president obama's rally last night. a very, very action-packed, exciting night for supporters of stacey abrams. at morehouse university, historically a black college here in atlanta. president obama very, very popular among black voters and stacey abrams really nields them to get over the top in a very, very close race, as you said. and president obama leaned into that. talked about the civil rights movement, the women's movement. how a vote in this race was to honor the people who came before to make voting possible for people who had previously been disenfranchised and a mel pretty well-received by the students and the many people in that gym. he's got a lot of great effort here in georgia to help get those black voters out for stacey abrams. she, too, sounded very, very fired up and feels she's going to put it over the top

you talked about stacey abrams. another really big, lot of momentum behind them in the democratic party. right now the race is still uncalled because, as we, as nick laid out earlier, she has not conceded the race. those are two difficult losses for democrats. another one -- ohio. if you talk about ohio, people going into this night thought richard cordray, the former director of the consumer financial protection bureau, had a real opportunity here. mike dewine, state attorney general, ended up winning this race by about four points. here's why that's problematic. you talk about what this means for the future. you're losing places like florida, like ohio, in governors races statewide, that has 2020 implications. more importantly it has redistricting implications. when the new census comes out and they draft maps, this governor has veto power. this is why democrats feel like they had a good night. let's look at the seats that flipped. and you're looking now at seven total if held and where are the seats? this is cruc
