i said this at this board before, but i'm so impressed with the way you used your time on this board. that you have both looked after the very most vulnerable, the very folks who need the most help, but have also -- and related to that and tried to do big things and pursued universal answers to problems and tried to create a right to higher education in san francisco and helped create a right to childcare in san francisco. and i just, that's a model i think for any of us who serve. i have also, you know, i came on the board having run a campaign about homelessness and knowing that it was really something i needed to dig into. i know that supervisor ronen had done that before me, but before either one of us were doing it, you were spending nights in shelters, interviewing every person in the city, looking at every program and digging in about what is at the root of our city's homeless crisis. not pursuing cheap and easy solutions that make people feel good, but don't really solve anything, but looking for real ways to make peoples' lives better. i appreciate that, like supervisor peski

i was -- i wasn't on the board, but i came to those board meetings when the board was coming to the system that we had now, and there was a lot of hope about what might happen. you know, there's nothing magical about what we have. it was a political compromise in many ways. it is a going out on a limb -- it was a going out on a limb. the ctip thing was a whole new concept. there were certain hopes about how the attendance areas and the ctip and the choices would lead to these better outcomes, and i don't any that's happened. for the people who are saying we need to be bolder about integration, we need to be bolder about the options and choice, i hope the board gives us some potential paths forward. i don't think the solution is neighborhood schools. i do think that there are other types of options that can give more predictability, can guarantee some control choice or zone choice or some initial assignment that leads to better access and also more integrated schools. so i wish you the best of luck with this. i'm really glad that there are three commissioners who are going to continue to ca

we asked the board for 100 million. the board approved and we did get 100 million. the fifth wall, which is the venture-capital strategy, we asked for 25 million. the board approved the same. we were given an allocation of 25 million. lightspeed which is a china -based venture-capital strategy. we asked for $40 million to be allocated across the two strategies. we were allocated 27 million to the flagship strategy and 9 billion to a select strategy. we got 36 out of 40. mpg is a private credit strategy we asked for $75 million. the board approved 75 million, and we were allocated the same. personnel, we do have an ongoing search for a managing director of private markets, and we do have free security analyst positions that are open, and recruitment is ongoing for each of these. we have made considerable progress on all of these searches. we will have some news on at least one or two of them in a month or two. on investment committee, the december meeting which was concentrated on the risk exposures and the exposures for our portfolio as a whole, as well as the pacin

i'm here to request this board adopt the cac recommendations to have the board approve bike share sites. we asked that the recently approved randall site be placed on hold and nearby alternatives be explored. we support bike share, our concerns are with a very particular location in front of the school on a very narrow, busy street. a location that was already a congestion and safety concern for the community. going back quite a ways. the bike share program has recognized the problems with the street and chosen toing ignore . the traffic of 280, the traffic of school, pick up and drop off, children running across the street, ignoring crossing guards, if there even was a crossing guard. there is not. this is a problem in the community. no one looked at to see the safety of this before they thought about putting it in there. the bike program we inquired about how the site was originally selected. and we've been given nothing of substance. they've often -- what they've given us lacked verifiable data. for instance, they recently said when approving the 22nd street site, that their criteria

we discussed this issue this weekend at our board meeting. we really want to acknowledge and appreciate the fact that creative arts charter has chosen to be part of the sfusd. also, the other thing that came up is because of its alternative options because all the creative programming the arts and different options for students, it is really attractive schools with students with disability. it's chance for them to shine outside of academics. it's a school sought out by special education students. however, the thing that came across, unfortunately, loud and clear for many of our board members and it's something you might have personal experience. the rigor and special education services are provided at creative arts charter. it's not always there. while the format of the school works for students, the rigor how i.e.p.s are implemented and what is happening a school site and how procedures are handled is not always there. we would ask in future they look at improving i.e.p. implementation. >> president cook: thank you. first readingdsuperintend
